Well it's that time again! PPA's going to be higher than the electri bill. When I asked them what exactly it was they told me borrowed electricity. That Salamanca went over there budget . Well does anyone know is this budget decided yearly or are we on a budget from 20 yrs ago? Since then Salamanca has added jimtown and the nation houses in kill buck. So why don't they just apply for a larger budget? Does anyone know how it works?

When they put the casino in they made a deal with nimo to buy any extra electric needed. So essentially we pay for the multimillion dollar casino to have cheaper electric. Seems fair! Huh?

Umm. Not really. The rate paid by the casino is all ppa. So how is that cheaper? Why don't you go to a bpu meeting and ask some questions on your own instead of relying on inacurate info. Huh?

Excatl, they would never admit that the Casino is the cause to make all the people in Salamanca have huge electric bills. It is total crap. FACT: It wasn't this high before the casin, so what else could the cause be? Think about it!

Yeah for some reason sni and bpu says nope it's not us. Everyone wants to point there finger and say its not us, regardless it's not saving anyone any money that casino has been here for how long? Why can't they just get apply for a larger budget since the casino, jimtown, and authority rds are now on city electric? Or at least give us the chose to pay city or nimo electric. Are we running on the same budget from before the casino, jimtown, and authority ?... I'm not tryn to bash any one just wondering if any one knows n when I ask BPU they don't seem to have a straight answer.

Wrong. It's not the casino. The first poster is right. The city did not plan for increased development, housing or otherwise. And all of you dumb asses "upgraded" your heat to electric when the new rate went in, so you are to blame as well. There was a mad rush to electric heat, the city added new housing communities, and yes, there has been increased economic development. What this amounts to is poor planning on the city's part.

There was PURCHASED POWER AMOUNT being billed on your electric bills long before the casino. It is when Salamanca cannot meet the demand and must buy additional power. One thing that will jack up that amount in the winter is people heating with electic. But if it serves your purpose to stir thngs up, by all means blame it on the casino.

i don't really care about explainations. i just don't want to use the same amount of electricity this month as i did last month but get a bill that is double the size. maybe the BPU should change the billing system to do away with the sticker shock. i would rather pay a higher rate each month instead of getting smacked in the face with the PPA rate. otherwise, where is the incentive to be more energy conscience?

WOW....I haven't lived there in 17 years, But I DO know the city was VERY lax, to put it kindly, even back then. It saddens me that things have obviously progressed from bad to HORRIBLE. When I left there I wished everyone good luck, NOW all I can say is you need a MIRACLE.
