I am in total agreement. Chris is a horrible teacher and her mood swings in the classroom are scary for the students. This woman needs to get out if teaching any get on some psych meds.

I agree she is a week union leader. I do not have enough information regarding her teaching to have an opinion.

She's a terrible teacher, then start taking issue with it. There IS a chain of command. Follow it til there are results. Been there, Done that.
If her mood swings are that bad that she's intimidating the children, perhaps she's not JUST a bad teacher. What is her age?? COULD be PMS or menopause. Maybe she needs more than JUST "psych meds".
Or MAYBE she IS JUST a bad teacher and needs to be removed.
Good Luck!

She is stone cold proof that teachers unions do nothing for students, just the interests of teachers. I cannot believe the way she speaks to my daughter's class and tries to put them down for not catching onto her lesson right away. Perhaps it's because you are a crappy teacher, Christine??? Typical union member she is.
Your very first sentence is dead on accurate. HOWEVER, the union is set up and acts SOLELY for the benefit of its members.
If you read my reply to "parent", there IS a chain of command.
Take issue with the situation, get involved, go fight for your kids. You'll feel better and they'll respect you for it.
God Luck!

Chris is my Mother. She raised me the same way she teaches and I tell you what, she teaches more than just the studies, she teaches responsibility and makes her students responsible for their actions. Can you imagine how hard it would be to teach a classroom that is unruly? I dont' know what it is but Salamanca School district has some of the hardest kids to take on. It's been that way since I went there and has only gotten worse. You have to be tough to start or you will get walked over, plus being dealt the classes she has over the years...You try to get the unruly children to behave so that the ones who want to learn can! You should be appreciative of that instead of talking all this negative! And I would like to know who's telling you what she is saying to these children, supposably. Your children?? Thats such a reliable source. Kids say anything to keep there selves out of trouble...I have a older daughter and see it first hand. Sure you want to be protective over your children...but you need both sides to figure out the truth! Any teacher has to meet certain criteria, they get graded just like the children do. Of course she wants them to learn. Just because she is strict doesn't mean she is a bad teacher. If it wasn't for the strict toughness of my Mother, I would have gone no where...Instead, I was on my own at 19 years old, good job, able to manage money and never relied on a man to take care of me, and never settled for less than what makes me happy
As far as the Union, she is there as a representative, but there is always someone over you that has the final say and it is SOLEY for its members.
I am sure you will all continue to down talk her and now maybe even me, but thats what Topix is isn't it. There is many sides to an issue...remember that. And if you feel you have been wronged, then take it to the proper people, not Topix!

P.S If you all think it's so easy to be a teacher, then go to school for years and do all of the continuing education thats required all the time even after you are a teacher to keep up with the requirments and changes, to benefit your students educations! I would love to see how you felt after even ONE year of teaching in Salamanca schools...or any school for that matter!

Have a great day Topix!

You poor child Catie, having been raised by her and spoken to so abusivley. I understand why you left home at 19. Hope you are more understanding to you own child/children than momma was to yourself and her students.

Would love to know how you switched that all up! Being strict and loving, is not even close to abusive! I got my great job (that I still have) at 19 and became a mother myself! Thats why I moved out when I was 19...because she prepared me and I was able to spread my wings then! I think these parents who are complaining are the ones who's only involvement in the school system is the stuff their child comes home and tells them.
My Mother is very involved in both her job and the union, but also is very dedicated to the Vetrans of Foreign wars, I am proud of my Mother.

I have achild in Mrs leavors class this year . She is a great teacher. She does teach more then just spelling math history ect . Kids need to learn respect and responsibility. A lot of Salamanca student have no or very little respect and it is hard to teach student who have no respect for you themselves or the school . If you let the students walk all over you what will that teach them?
Keep Up the good work Mrs leavor
May you teach these students something that will stick with them for a lifetime
