What constitutes a happy holiday season with all thats now going on in the world around us ?

Well let's see. First off you could call it what it is. It's the Christmas season,we're not celebrating the birth of a holiday,it's the birth of Christ we celebrate. Every christian could and should espouse this fact at every opportunity, and you're aware this is a predominately christian nation? How we ever got to the point where we are puzzles me. We want to be "PC" now don't we,so as not to offend anyone. Well just who are we going to offend?,another christian?,a Jew? I know many Jews, and not a one has ever been offended by the Christian celebration,do any of the Jewish holidays offend you? If they do,you have a problem. Maybe we don't want to offend the Muslims, you know, the religion that wants all Christians and Jews dead. The religion that wants to live back in the seventh century where they have total dominance. Those people and their stupid Quran are the last ones I would ever care about offending. It,s we Christians who have allowed the birth of Christ to take a back seat. We will settle for a greeting of "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas". We will settle for some asinine group to sue because there may be a Nativity scene on public property,in spite of the fact there is no constitutional separation of church and state. I could go on and on about this issue, and our good friends at the ACLU,but I wont.it's futile. I have never been offended by anyone's acknowledgement of this season or the way they do it,except when I see the demeaning of Christ birth. Whats the latest group to enter the American scene a few years ago, believe it's called Kwanzaa. I don't have a problem with that segment celebrating in their own way, just don't rain on my parade. I make a concerted effort, when in public to greet everyone with a "Merry Christmas",and especially in a place where I have just dumped my money. The retailer and his/her staff owe me a "Merry Christmas" in return. Only we can make it happen as it used to be. Now MERRY CHRISTMAS to all of you,and if I just offended someone, too bad.Later.

Before Thanksgiving, I happily wish people Happy Holidays. However, after Thanksgiving Day, I wish people a Merry CHRISTmas. If I go to a store and I get the slightest hint they are not to wish me a Merry Christmas, I will NEVER go back to that business again. I REFUSE to wish anyone happy holidays when it is Christmas I am referring to.

GAD- you espouse Christianity. Your words in your post don't follow the spirit of Christianity. You are a poor Christian.
As a Christian, why would I want to wish a Merry Christmas to someone who is Jewish? That would only serve to show I am claiming dominance with MY religious beliefs and deeming theirs to be less than important enough to consider.

I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ.

You obviously have a problem with comprehension, that's too bad. I reread my post where I advocate wishing a Jew "Merry Christmas",not there. When you greet another caucasian, do you have the ability of knowing their nationality or religious background? I am saying I know no Jew who was ever offended by anything to do with the Christian celebration of Christmas,I guess you missed that point. I feel any further communication with you would test my patience,so as I do with anyone who comes up a little short,I bid you adieu and take my leave,it's easier than trying to make a silk purse from a sows ear.Later

Yes GAD, you are obviously superior to the majority of people on the earth.

I have no comprehension issues, and I never implied that you said you advocate wishing a Jew a Merry Christmas.

As for your narrow minded view that the fact you spent money for an item or service entitles you to a 'Merry Christmas' is just silly.

And yes- your intolerance is showing, that would explain the comments that denigrate Muslims. Your lack of control that having a conversation with someone who holds a different view would test your patience shows how lacking you are in tolerance.

I am glad you proclaim your religious views, but thanks, I'll pass on sharing your distorted concept that because you are Christian, you hold the right to shove it in everyone's face.

I do not ask a person if they are Jewish. Do you? If they would say to me, I am Jewish, that would be the end of it and I would move on.
