Just read this on the news site, how horrific. I hope the boy is okay. Who was the other that had burns?
fishy.

First engine company marked on scene with a two story dwelling fully involved 8 MINUTES after the call was dispatched. Paid departments have that kinda response time. What fueled this fire to grow so fast?
fishy.

Which is another example of how politics screw everything up. Residents of that house have been paying fire due to West Side Fire department for their protection, yet Tornado had two engines on scene, grabbed the hydrant and made entry on the structure before West Side ever got there. Tornado adds wear and tear to their equipment yet West Side collects the funds.

tornado marked out with 2 guys on each truck, thats why they got there so fast, west side marked out with 6 on the first truck and still got there within a min of tornado while having a longer distance to travel. so 1 piece of apparatus with 6 or 2 pieces with 4, which one would you rather have considering all the role these firefighters had to do? btw west sides second truck had 4 on it, i think both did a good job, there was no saving this house, i seen a guy from tornado and a guy from west side inside fighting fire together when everyone yelled "GET OUT" cause the roof was falling in and they both rushed out together, now thats brotherhood! both did fantastic!

This is true. But the one thing two guys can do is perform a rescue. If the house is not savable then a full crew does you no good either. But that 1-2 min is life and death. Not to mention fire grows twice it's size every 30 seconds. So what two can handle at one point and time my seem to require 6.... In any situation. It's always gonna pay off to have at least two on scene with a pumper. What size crews the think the cities run?

first of all this aint the city. city couldnt survive. secondly if the house is not saveable then how would the victims inside be saveable? really! third, tornado probably should try sending 2 on the truck who at least know what there doing. as said before, westside has to pull them out of hot water every single time because tornado lacks some much experience. a bunch of kids who dont know what there doing. and yes i mean kids. im a resident of tornado i would know. im gonna start paying MY DUES TO WESTSIDE.

Westside has a bunch of high school drop outs that work for life ambulance, 3 out of the 4 they send on a truck don't have high school diplomas. Tornado, a much smaller department with less funds and members would out work that group of over weight morons. Their calls are cut and dry 90% percent of the time, give them something with a little complexity to it and watch them scratch their heads. Once again, only proof anyone needs is that the SAFD calls for Lakewood for assistance over the station that is within eye sight.

cities run 2 man crews on a truck but the know they have back up within 10 seconds away at all time, these volunteer depts maybe not have backup following them, they may never even get back up, so therefor running 4 man crews is whats best even if it does take an extra min. plus tornado guys are a bunch of dumb a$$e$ who dont have a clue what to do. i mean come on guys hart childress is on that dept, they will let anybody wear gear!

City has a two man crew backing up a two man crew. If all you get out is 2 then you send a truck with two. Maybe Tornado doesn't have 25 active members like some stations. Work with what your given. West Side will send 4 with maybe one capable fireman, one is gonna be over weight, one can't wear their gear for some reason, and one is a free lancing officer who is never where he should be. Truth in the matter is all stations have their not so great members. Just gotta have a few to keep them from getting hurt. Take what can get in the volunteer world.
