Very sad. This should be made into a park for the public to enjoy. The proposal to demo it and build another giant home is an ecological nightmare.

I always thought it'd make a great whorehouse. Summer in the Hamptons always brings herds of them out from New York City, this'd make it official, and does this shack ever look the part !

Ed, where have you ever been in a brothel like this place? Red cedar panelling might add a nice touch, though.

It is a shame to tear down houses especially one that is so nice and crazy looking. We just tear down and rebuild which is not good. We need to preserve these things and treasure them like the did in the old ages so one day 1000s of years from now someone will see that house. There is no reason to tear anything down. IT is a shame that we do this so often and when you look at a place like Rome, thank god there was no people living there like the people who are living around here just tearing down houses and buildings.
I have to agree with you Tim. In this country, our oldest buildings are at most a few hundred years old; whereas around the world there are buildings at least a few thousand years old. As long as we keep destroying our buildings when they are no longer convenient, we are robbing future generations any historic places that define what we are and what we were and what we can become.
I agree with both of these writers. WE NEED TO PRESERVE!!!!!!!!!!

How about they live next door to you?
Shirley? Guess you live in Shirley.
Why would it matter where I live?

I am saying put them all in one place...instead of having them infect all of Shirley...like they are now.

It is not an old house that is being torn down, at least not as it is now. The original, was a Dupont house built in the 50s. That should have stayed up rather than what Barry Trupin did to it in the 80s.
