You're right, but how many square feet are enough for you? Any house above 5,000 square feet should be burned down? How about 4,000? 3,000? Where does it end?
Just because there are people who can't afford houses means that I shouldn't own a house? I work hard to own and maintain a house and I didn't grow up with a silver spoon in my mouth. The opportunities I've taken advantage of are available to all. If you choose to have other priorities, then that's up to you. You could take your communist drivel elsewhere because you'll get no sympathy from me.
The opportunities you have taken advantage of are not available to all since not everyone has the same access to resources, education or natural abilities. Not everyone has access to the "right" people at the "right" time. Sometime that is their own fault but most of the time it is due to greed and indifference on the part of others.

It is rather rude of you to accept dessert when most haven't eaten.

The fact is there is an amount of space a person needs and an amount of space a person wants. In this case, these lovely human beings, the very flower of humanity that they are; have gone beyond even greedy excess.

Burn it down and return the land to nature. They don't own this land, they borrow it until they die. It isn't theirs to do with as they wish.

Frankly, I'd rather be a socialist than a capitalist any day. I bet you still think hard work and education are going to make your rich! Enjoy the fairy tale while it lasts.

In this country you must lie, cheat and steal to possess wealth.

Nobody in this country deserves the life that they have, one way or the other.

I say...more power to ya!! If I was able to afford a house like that, I would build one too.
To the letter, exactly what I was going to say. As long as the gardeners, etc. are legal.

I know property tax is high but this is where it is just plain wrong. I would love to know how many people live in this home and is it all year round?

One last thing, as big as this mansion may sound, remember the property size is 65 acres, so its not like he is living within a spitball range of his neighbors like most of us. <not sticking up for the crook or anything like that>

I worked there it's a freekin hotel. But the man's got the loot, and he spends it. Pays taxes. The land the "house" sits on supposivley had potato blight. It would have taken a boat load of chemicals to get that land back to a working farm.

Who IS this guy? He seems like a modern day Vanderbilt or something.

Is this a sort of Gold Coast Reneisance?

Wow! He is rich. I wonder how he got his money.

Anyway he's still going to die like the rest of us. And then he won't have money anymore. I don't care WHAT he tells himself.

$400K property taxes! And my landlord complains about his measly $63K!

Are you aware that Hillary caters to the rich? She voted to give illegal aliens Social Security and against making English our official language.

"Ira Rennert (born 1934 in Brooklyn, New York) is a Humvee and Renco Group tycoon, philanthropist, and supposed recluse whose various companies have been accused of wreaking environmental havoc in the U.S. and abroad."

As far as you being shocked over his $400K property taxes you shouldn't be.
The house he owns is valued at $100,000,000 and if he paid a rate of 1.75% or so like most home owners on the island his property tax bill would be $1,750,000.
He pays way less in taxes (percent wise) than compared to you or I. As was stated earlier by another poster it is no wonder the wealthy get richer while the middle class gets screwed.

Everyone has access to education. If you choose not to apply yourself, don't come to me looking for handouts.

I think it's rather rude of you to own a computer when there are many who can't. If you had instead donated the money to the homeless, we would all be spared you're liberal communist nonsense.

Dear Dorisue,
First, I want to wish you and your family a very happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
Second, I want you to know that I had family, who are now deceased, who became multimillionaires. They were my late grandmother's brothers.
They were very shallow people. The one brother who hadn't become a multimillionaire, did well for himself anyway, but was a really nice person.
My grandmother also saved up her money, played the stock market and worked hard along side my grandfather.
They were very happily married for many years. In my eyes, they were a whole lot richer than the multimillionaire brothers ever were!
I have found out through the years, that sometimes you have to write someone off as a loss who has been mean and cruel to you, like on a tax return. These people don't deserve your love, they don't deserve your sympathy, and they don't deserve your time.
Write your Cousin Ira and his family off as a loss and act like they (especially Cousin Ira) never existed.
Just think of what a rich life you've led. Think of all the lives you changed, because you are a teacher. There are people out there, who are a lot better off, because of your teaching, dedication and honest hard work.
Yes, you are on a tight budget, but you are still the richer person of the two.
On this coming Yom Kippur, count Cousin Ira among the dead.
Happy New Year!!
Yom Tov!
Shalom!

At least IRA could make his real estate taxes from some of that Tax Break Bush gave him. Otherwise he might've had to spend real money.

And I love the realtive's personal note of, " Blah, Blah, Blah Blah, Blah, and take pity on me and Send Money "

IRA's a 'Loved Man' indeed !

I wonder how many of Ira's Kids are wearing uniforms in Iraq ? Isn't it nice to know how the wealthy help when the nation's defense is threatened.

Surely Ira himself was a veteran and isn't that nice to know how he's now enjoying the life he helped defend by his service to the nation.
