Let's see. What on earth could this have been about? Review of Florida retirement packages for people favoring windmills?
" You don't see Alfonse D'Amato pull up in a limo at the Suffolk County offices at the Dennison building in Hauppauge every day, so when the former U.S. senator showed up in Steve Levy territory Friday, antennae shot up like a crop of crocuses.
It turns out that D'Amato, who is known to have a close relationship with outgoing LIPA chief executive Richard Kessel, had dropped in to visit with Kevin Law, Levy's top aide.
Law is also, of course, the newly named Long Island Power Authority chairman who is due to take the full-time role of chief executive in the fall.
Asked about the visit later Friday, Law in an e-mail replied that the visit involved county, LIPA and government issues, but declined to offer specifics.
D'Amato, who is a consultant to LIPA contractor FPL Energy, which won the bidding to build a wind farm for LIPA, was said by a spokeswoman to be golfing and unavailable for comment. "
