The Death Penalty doesn't deter anything, but giving criminals the love and attention they are really seeking will keep them from acting out, killing, maiming, etc. Also new "institutional green' paint, and cable TV for every prison cell helps to relax the prisoners, and relieve stress, which deters future crime by 537%.

Perhaps Mr Obama will come stump for Ms Coakley again, that will ensure her defeat. Hard to believe that less than two years into his reign Mr Obama is toxic to his own parties candidates. Never has there been a harder fall, but lets be thankful.

"Tell the people what they want to hear, to get elected" is an oldie, but goodie that he took to a whole nuther level.
