To all supporters for Christie and Hitch..thank you. To lose an only child is heart wrenching, to see any parent lose a child is horrible. Cassidy is going to be missed.. it is so awesome to see how one person at the age of "19" impacted so many lives in a positive manner. I hope all that were close to Cass will keep a picture of her beautiful smile and her memory will live on. The world truly lost a beautiful soul.

I wasn't close to Cassidy, and I never really tlked to her like that. However, I knew who she was and saw her a few times. She's one of those people that would just walk past you and have such a friendly smile on, or even say hello. I'm sorry that I didn't have the chance to know her better. She seemed like such a remarkable person, and I know she touched many people while she was living on this earth. My prayers and sympathy goes out to everyone who was a part of her life. May she Rest In Peace♥

I just saw in the Southampton Press the roadside memorial her friends erected.
Come on people, don't you think it's a little cheesy? Not to mention an eyesore and a dangerous distraction. You'll only cause more accidents with that outlandish display.
I hope you choke on your broccoli

its sad to see grown adults, i mean age not maturity, because its odvious more and more people are leaving inappropriate messages... unlike 98% of you, i actually knew her. she was my bestfriend and i love her like the lil sister i never had. cassidy wasnt some over privileged girl so many of you are trying to make her out to be. if she could see these comments written about her, she would show no anger, she would hardly be hurt but instead she would reach out to you because she would be concerned with your mental health, she would say, its so sad how people are so ill. and she would feel for you, she would try to be your friend and not because she needed a new friend, but she would feel sorry that you havent experience the love of a real friend. shes a person who calls friends and family just to see how you were doing, that things were ok and if not she'd take you out to coffee and lend a listening ear. thats who she was. her parents' world, and our hearts. she lit up the darkest room with out moving. you would be so blessed to have known a girl like her. she was brilliant, she worked hard, she loved her mom, she and her dad were buds, and most of all she cared, she cared about everyone, even those who she didnt know. i hope those of you who had such negative comments never go through a tragic loss like we have. think about the kind of support youd receive if u were in our place. im sure your dark and jaded outlook on life and loss extends far beyond a newsday comment page. may god help you.

Why must people errect these roadside memorials??? I never understood this, to put flowers and other mementos on the site of where their loved ones tragically died. It seems like these memorials just mark the place of a violent death. Why not place flowers and other mementos with the surviving family at the home, wake, funeral, cemetery or even somewhere that the deceased felt attached to.
Can we not memorialize their life instead their death...if it was me who lost a friend or loved one i would much rather leave a mark of happiness then of sadness
I am wowed by how unbelievably ignorant you moron's are. It makes me so angry to read all of your ridiculous comments. If you have ever lost a close friend or loved one, someone who you grew up with, went to kindergarden with, knew for as long as you can remember, it would be extremely obvious why memorials are erected at the sites of accidents. Of course flowers and belongings are with the family and at the wake and funeral and the cemetery and her apartment and school and pretty much everywhere else she had ever been. Memento's keep memories alive, so although she is no longer with us, each time we drive by the trees that killed her, which have chunks of bark missing do to her fatal accident, we see the butterflies that each and every person who knew hear associate with her, and the gorgeous flowers that barely compare to her unspeakable beauty. These things DO memorialize her life and if you do not realize that then you are a fool.

RIP Cass. I miss you more and more every day.

I am annoymous for a reason personally I know you are all trying to help but nobody was there but cassidy and only she knows the story.

As loss occured in my life I have to say That cassidy was not speeding she was coming home.

She lost control due to the road being slick the darkness the fog etc. There are no lights on Ferry Road!

The turns are sharp and many people have been killed there. As a resident of the Island I only know this because the turns are sharp in my same town.

As for Cassidy and her family let them rest in peace move on it's not about you it's about the family!

You know what would be horrible. If someone were to attribute this nineteen year-old's demise to her hard partying ways as depicted in the pics at her MySpace profile.

God forbid we be honest. Let us be sensitive to the family of the TEENAGER who ignored her coming home reeking of alcohol.

So sorry for this girl, at least she seems to have lived a priveleged life for the short time she was on this earth.
don't bother leaving comments like that. if you think that helps the situation then you have a lot to learn and are sadly mistaken. speaking of privileged, which you can't seem to spell right, i feel sorry that you never had the privilege of knowing such a wonderful human being. no wonder you're an invisible stranger.

hey counselor, being as smart as you are i'm sure you're right in taking the time out of your busy day to comment on the lost life of an incredible woman like Cassidy. I am sure her family will appreciate you pointing out photos in her myspace profile, which you so blatantly searched out yourself in an attempt to bring more pain to a situation thats not needed. God forbid you kept your comments to yourself and dealt with your own life seeing as how i'm sure it's got much repairing to do in itself. let us be sensitive to the family of a COUNSELOR who seems to need more attention than those of an innocent teenager.
