Why are pit bulls legal? Now, do they put the boy or the dog down?

These damned things need to be rounded up and gassed, and the breeding lines exterminated as if they were Burmese Pythons.

as sad as it may sound, that breed needs to be eradicated. Or used solely for security details, etc. Those dogs shold not be in residential neighborhoods at all. Don't be foolish, it needs to be done...

I volunteer for a rescue.. and we sure dont adopt a stray to anyone with kids. just for that reason.. and we are breed specific. I have yet to figure why anyone would adopt a pitbull not knowing its background from puppyhood. besides. they lie. the people who dump any dog lie. do ya think they would tell ya if their dog bit? I agree with Pollyanna.. about people being so stupid.

This was not an "attack", but a REACTION.

I wouldn't scream and flail at any animal and not expect a reaction.

He was six you 'tard. What else is he gonna do?

I was trying to explain this to a co-worker the other day. You buy a fast car to go fast, you buy an economical car to be economical. You buy a nice family dog to have as a nice family pet.. so what do you buy a pitbull for?

Due to something known as "Breed-ban prohibition", it is illegal in the state of Florida for a county or other local government to ban one particular breed of dog. The only exception is the pit bull ban in Miami-Dade county, which existed before this legislation and as such is "grandfathered"

What can we do about this silly situation? Two things.

1. Roll back the prohibition on breed bans. This would be quite difficult: PETA and other animal-lovers believe that pit bulls have more right to exist than you have a right to basic safety. Plan on them fighting hard to keep this prohibition.

2. Licensing fees. The best way around breed-ban prohibitions is for counties to enact ordinaces which require all dogs to be licensed. Fees for licenses are NOT covered under the breed-ban legislation, so a county could require that pit bull owners pay a fee of upwards of $1000 per year, or face severe fines/jail time. THIS WILL STOP PETA and other dog freaks in their tracks-

However, until something is done, you can sit at your computer and watch the daily reports as kids have their arms, legs, and faces ripped apart by these vicious, unpredictable animals.

If you stepped in a pile of ants you're sissy arse would probably do the same. MOST dogs would sense that a "family" member was in danger in that situation and try to help, not use it as an instictive reaction to attack, much like a shark does with wounded fish.

But the pit bull is such a sweet dog , mine would never hurt a fly much less a person , he drinks milk takes his vitamins and goes to church with us on Sundays ... its the owners and stupid attack victims .. yeah that is it !!
and so it begins

Wow. What a dummy. A six year old stepping in an ant pile by mistake is "flailing AT any animal?"

Do your parents a favor, shoot yourself.

For years I've been reading about senseless and violent pit bull dog attacks. When are we going to wise up? Kids step in fire ant piles all the time and a normal dog reaction is to come to the child's rescue and comfort him - not capitalize on an opportunity for a vicious bloody attack. Pit bulls are demon-possessed blood thirsty killers, and should be outlawed or eliminated altogether.

Another tragic incident involving fire ants. If only the kid had stayed out of the fire ants, this wouldn't have happened.

All dogs, pitbull or not, have an instinct to attack the weak/injured member of the pack. My sisters dog broke his leg once and I had to hold my dogs back, a 13 year old golden retriever, from attacking him.
