I totally agree Nick, people who are cruel to any animal don't deserve to be called human.

Give us the name of the Company. Tell us what the Company plans to do with this rotten bastid.

What a waste of resources. The racoon was stuck and in pain. Why not end the suffering. Why ruin a mans life over a baby racoon dying. Lets go after the murderers and drug dealers, and leave him alone.

I sincerely hope that this roofing company is put on everyone's Do Not Use List, and the foreman fired.
The foreman should be tar and feathered!
and then face jail time.
He must really be a prince of a person--NOT.

The racoon was stuck, and could not be freed. He did it to end its suffering. So the suppervisor made the call to put the flame on full to end its pain quickly. The news story does not include that side. It depicts him as a evil man who burns racoons for fun.

Greed is the cause of this man's neglect. He had to get the job done, would he have done the same if it was a child NO, so why not wait until the animal rescued showed up, again all about the money.

Ok, Nate. Who in their right mind would burn a living creature to end its suffering. Please, spare us the b.s. People who do this to animals are likely to do harm to human beings, too. So if this guy's life is "ruined" because of what he did, i suppose burning him alive would put him out of his misery, right?

This guy should have known better. If the job had to be halted for a couple of hours he should have called the office and said we are going to sit on our butts until animal rescue gets here and takes these wild animals out! Raccoons are vermin (from Websters: an insect or animal that is destructive, annoying or harmful to health, as a cockroach or rat.) they still should have been removed and not killed.

This is is a jerk. The article didn't mention how he told his crew to turn the machine on. They refused to turn it on and hurt the animals. When they took a stand, he walked over and turned it on himself. I say thank you to the crew who wouldn't obey his orders!

If he could do this, he has done a lot worse and has not be caught. He is garbage, throw him out. Do not use the company he works for.

I read another article that says that if there's not enough public outcry, he will get a slap on the wrist. When and were should we stand with signs and demonstrate, for 'public outcry'? I am sick and tired of the animal cruelty that goes on, whether it's a cuddly kitten or a wild racoon, and these people just walk away. Today an animal, tomorrow a child.

I would use that company if they fired the jerk. The crew refused to turn the machine back on. They tried to take a stand. If they keep the guy, then boycott. If they can him, then use them.

Nope, just someone who reads more then this one sided article. Micheal Vick killed how many dogs and got a slap on the wrist with a year in jail. Now this guy kills one baby racoon and could get 5 years.

Nate, I agree with you. In another article it did say that he didn't want it to suffer anymore. We are all damned if we do and damned if we don't. This guy shouldn't be in more trouble than Michael Vick!!!!

Let's see the racoon was stuck in tar , well he could of pulled him out or was he just to scared to do so, am sure they have gloves there roofer's. and if as the article says that it was a baby then damn this guy's a real idiot, how could he have been scared of a baby racoon. He was just rushing his job and like so many out there that rush there's always a penalty and his was five hundred bucks, that's what it cost this ahole to get out of jail, what a dumba-s.

Here we go again.

I was really barked off when I read the report here.

Then, I read an unusually balanced story in the St. Pete Times.

I am a SOB when it comes to animal cruelty but there may be something to this schmuck's decision.

Read the more balanced account, see if the guy gives any further explanation, then if the consensus is to slice off his whatchacallit, I'll support that.

I don't agree with what this guy did one bit. However before you comment on putting your hands into tar to pull out a baby racoon you should undestand that the tar is over 600 degrees. They don't make a glove that will resist that kind of heat that these guys can afford.

But like I said I don't agree with this guy's actions whatsoever and I think we should dump him in the tar and say we were putting him out of his misery.
