I fully support keeping the St. Pete Beach Police Department but a compromise on pension funding must be reached. Like many cities, St Pete Beach kicked the can down the street and allowed more back loading to city worker's pay structure. When times get tough, cities realize they won't be able to meet these future obligations.
This is another example where the city has done less than an acceptable job in the managment of city affairs. St Pete Beach citizens deserve better; it can be better. If we can't afford to repave streets we might approach doing one street at a time. Our infrastructure and city planning is suffering.
If it hasn't been bad city administrative planning or management a group of minority short sighted or difficult residents along with a pin headed attorney, not a St. Pete Beach resident, are impeding the city to plan and grow in a responsible manner; that get's us back to the legal expenses incurred in our city for 5 years. The majority doesn't need to be saved by the minority or non residents or the ACLU.
