The State Rep from Wilton has submitted legislation that would require anyone having a search conducted for their where abouts in the woods would be billed by the State of Maine $15,000 for the cost of the effort. That is unless you buy a Rescue Card for $20 each year. This has been prompted by those who get lost in the woods because of poor preparation or use of poor judgement. Like climbing Mt Blue in a T-Shirt after a storm warning had been posted. What do you think? Should Maine start billing for rescue efforts and selling insurance for just in case?
