Julia, I am in Louisiana and have been told from a friend that stayed in Groves, they have not flooded.

My family is on Franklin in Nederland. They are safe but had some limbs down and a broken window. The land telephone lines are up but there is no cell service, water, electricity at this time. They have been asked to stay off the roads. They had a scary, sleepless night and should have evacuated.

Comments about no service, but no time and date for reference!
Are there any water, sewer, and electrical services as of 6:00 PM om Saturday 9/13/08?
If not, is there an estimated time for these?

My family lives just west of mid-Jeff airport in B. Gardens. Does anyone know how that area looks after the storm. My parents didn't have wind storm coverage because of Rita.

Corey, Read either the Beaumont Enterprise or Port Arthur News on line. To start with, you can not get to Nederland. Nederland had some wind damage but came out in good shape. Water plant is working. Sewage plant should be running some time today

My mother lives in B. Gardens, too. No electricity or phone service as of 9 a.m. Sunday. A carport on 3rd street and concrete steps of mobile home. Some wind damage and neighbors roof damaged. Not too bad. Mom only had minor damage in Rita.

It seems that they are out of power and that's the reason why they can not post any photos or information on this. My boyfriend is living there and according to him, everything is fine by far. Trees are blown down and they are out of electricity and water. Let's just pray!

My husband and I weathered the storm in the north west area of Beaumont. We had fences and patio walls blown down, but the house survived without damage. The area is near Folsom and Dowlen. We did see many trees down, but no flooding in the area.

Out house is in Nederland off of Nederland Ave and S 4th St. We had no flooding and no major damage to the house. There were trees down but not at our home.

Driving between the 2 cities on 69, we saw many trees down and some minor flooding, but nothing like what was projected on the news prior to Ike landing. We did hear that if your home is in Bridge City/Orange, you will most likely have severe damage; water reached to the roof tops there.

The latest information is that the electricity will be out for 2-4 weeks because of the widespread destruction to the infrastructure and main power plants that control electricity in the region.

Hopefully this helps those of you in this area out. We fled to Arlington Tx while the area is being restored.
