Don't think you're the only one's that the ARMY has messed with. Here in Central Texas is Ft. Hood. The ARMY DOESN"T use half of the land they have. Yet not to long ago they are trying to enlarge Ft. Hood. It's A shame that congress won't put a stop to it. We all know George W won't.

OK, I just found this forum in the process of looking for property. I live out of state (WI) and my wife and I would like to relocate to CO. I have been checking out some land east of Trinidad, and have wondered about all the land the gov't has and if I bought some out there, would they someday want it, and what if they did. What are my rights, if any. Then I see this post regarding the gov't and land. What's the scoop on it? Should I stay away from the east side of Trinidad or Walsenburg? Thanks for any help and advice. Chuck

You should stay away from the East side of Trinidad regardless....yuck. However, East of Trinidad is Pinon Canyon, aka Army Training Center. Walsenburg should be ok. |

The federal government can't take your property without first getting permission from the State concerned.
