I have to say that I have supported and defended our sheriffes office for the past few years, however all that changed today. First I was humiliated by an off duty drug task officer. Second I was told that a supervisor could not be reached. Third dealt with another cop with a chip on his shoulder. Fourth still dont have a poilce report which I requested many times. Finally I have to wait until tomorrow to speak with the sheriff. What happen to the "open door" policey?

Welcome to Grainger County is all I can say. If you actually believe that you will get to speak with the sheriff tomorrow, I have some beach front property, here in Tennessee for sale. There are many on this site that think I run my mouth just to hear my own head roar. However, I run it because things like this have happened to me also. It is my opinion that the sheriff is a lier and half of his officers could not find their own ass with a map. It is a poor state that our sheriff's department is in. What is in even worse shape is that court room. It is a joke, at the expense of the tax paying citizens of this county. I hope you get things resolved tomorrow, but I would not hold my breath.

This is a good one! The sheriff callled one of his deputies the other day while on patrol and made him bring to his residence 2 mt dews and 2 cans of tobacco. He said he didn't feel like getting out of the house.

He has nothing to worry about with hannon. If he was all that why hasn't he been Sheriff before somewhere else. But lately will go home. Maybe he can start delivering tomatoes. Just saying!!!

Maybe this stuff needs to brought out. We deserve to know what are tax dollars are paying for. From what I seen our officers need some training.

officer: Hannan has been active in other branches of law enforcement wherever he lived at the time.
There's only one sheriff but many deputies, investgators, and support members in any legal office. You only have one chief, but many Indians.
I suppose Jim Hannan saw a more critical need here than anywhere else. He IS, after all, coming out of retirement to offer for the position.

According to GCSD above, he is probably still at home drinking Mt. Dew and chewing tobacco. I don't feel like getting out tonight, wonder if an officer might bring me dinner at the tax payers expense?

If it is something of grave importance, I suggest calling them every 15 minutes. A trip up there might light a fire under someone, but I doubt it. The one thing you can bet on is if it were their house that were robbed or one of them done wrong, they would be Johnny-On-The-Spot.

While we're at it, lets not leave out that inept bunch/dept of 911. With the exception of the little ole lady at the front desk, theyre all a bunch of unprofessional clowns working underneath the biggest dipflick in East Tn.

You all are idiots...everyone of you posting! Have you nothing better to do? You will feel different when you have to call 911 for help. Wonder if you will actually be honest when one of our officers show up? Are you going to be an adult and tell them you are posting crap on here about them? I doubt it. Grow up. As for Hannon....what kind of future sheriff posts on topix?!?! Give respect and you'll get it. There are bad seeds in every department. Thats with all aspects of life. As you were taught growing up....if you can't say something nice, dont say nothing at all. And as for the person waiting on a call to go get a copy of their report....get off your butt and go get it yourself!

I can assure you I told the officers more than I posted on here. I am not one to talk behind your back. I will only say things behind your back that i will say to your face. Also I am smart enough not to slander anyone. When an officer comes up to you for no reason and treats you like a criminal then something is wrong. I am not a stupid person and an officer does not scare me at all. I will stand up for what is right....

ALSO I dont need a copy of a report! I NEED to file a complaint on an officer that over stepped his limits. Read my first post and you will see I never said anything about needing a copy of a report. I have a lawyer who will get the report for me....

They might laugh. But When you get a attorney and file a lawsuit the laughing will stop.

I agree that 'the little old lady behind the desk' at the 911 department is good at her job, but she is just one of a department that is highly effective.
I have only needed the 911 department twice (once for a medical emergency at my home, and once for an auto accident) and they have been highly effective and courteous. I think Grainger County is blessed with this department, and we should thank God for them.
When my husband and I bought real estate not too long ago, the realtor had the wrong house number on the legal papers.
As we were and ARE STILL friends with Adrian Kammer of the 911 department, he dropped by one day to ask after my health, and recognised that the realtor had made this mistake.
He issued us a letter correcting this mistake, and his lovely, efficient sister, Jean Nickelson (the 'little old lady at the front desk at 911') came by our house on her own time off to HAND DELIVER the notice, as there is no mail box at that address at this time.
I think that is great, personal, and professional service for a department.
I have never been treated poorly by that department, and I'm glad to have them to serve our community.
