I have once again sparked life into the campaign for sheriff here in Grainger County. It seems that my potential opponents who recently stated that I stand no chance for the office of sheriff. It was being circulated that I am a "YANKEE", an outsider to Grainger Co., a and ill person that is to ill to hold office. Now they decided to attack my family, these are personal attacks, not issues. Why are they so worried, after all if all of this is true, why attack me ?. So, why are they so so worried about this YANKEE ??.

So, ask yourself this, why so much emphasis on me, calls to my hometown, former employers, friends, relatives, they all have received inquiries.
What are they worried about ? who will be implicated ? Well, I guess we will have to see how this all plays out.

Hey, Big Ji, I'm SOOO Southern, and I was not offended at all by any accent you might have, or any of your manners when you visited me at one of my homes.
You are a fine gentleman. You conducted yourself as an honored guest and a gentleman should.
I find nothing wrong with your character or reputation.

Let us examine your comment. You state that you would not vote for anyone dumb enough to post on Topix. Yet, here you are posting on Topix. Do you think yourself dumb? Then you comment on Mr. Hannan's spelling or lack of. Yet, I see several spelling and grammar errors in your short post. I am far from the grammar police, and Heaven knows I am not the sharpest pencil in the box. But, the last time I checked "cant" is spelled can't and proper nouns like Topix are spelled with a capitol letter.

Now, let me enlighten you on a few things. Topix is read by many people in Grainger County. Just as Face Book and several other social networking sites. They are also FREE. Mr. Hannan is placing his name and ideas out there for a good many people to read. He is not spending good money on a news paper ad that will be read by very few and once a week. This shows me that he is in fact very intelligent and wise to money matters. He is reaching more people with less money spent. How is that in any way dumb?

As for spelling errors, we all make them. Even you, as is apparent in your post. By the way, "wouldnt" is spelled wouldn't. Mr. Hannan is claiming to be a good law enforcement officer, not an English Professor. He is not running for president nor asking to be your brain surgeon. Maybe, you should listen to his ideas. I believe they make more sense than any others I have heard. That is. unless you have some better ones that you would like to share. Will your name be on the ballot?

You have an issue with someone making calls to people who may know you? I would call that the duty of an informed voter, not cry about it on a public forum. YOU chose to come here and say you are running for public office, so YOU invited any and all calls and background questions that follow, and no one should rely on YOUR answers as accurate.
Again, I would address the fact that you have come here promising the moon saying it can be delivered without tax increases due to YOUR extensive budget knowledge but have give no details.
You can start a Sheriff's Pony ranch.....no additional cost.
You can put a police sub-station in Blaine....no additional cost.

Again, I say if you are the man you proclaim to be and have the donors you profess to have in regard to a ranch to help youth, then why not do it NOW. You can rename it a Sheriff's Ranch 'after' you're elected. I say your donors and you are both talking out of your butt.

I do NOT support ANYONE that has made suggestion of running for Sheriff at this point, but I guarantee you the public is OVER politicians blowing about 'what they can do' with no evidence. Comments you make like 'won't happen in MY jail' are crap sir....that jail belongs to the residents of Grainger county and they pay the salary of the Sheriff. We sure don't need ANOTHER arrogant idiot in office, we have had our share.

www.stlucieclerk.com then go to public search. Double click on official records. A disclaimer will pop up. Accept the conditions. This will take you to a public records search. Type in Hannan where it says name and hit search. This will show numerous court documents that have been filed in the Hannan name. All public record. In his name, his wife's name and his kids names...

I will agree with you on one point. We certainly have enough arrogant idiots in office already. In my opinion that justice center is busting at the seams with them.

I believe you took out of context what Mr. Hannan was saying. I believe he is saying he thinks it is funny. They have said he could not possibly be elected, yet they are worried enough to check him out. Mr. Hannan has been an open book with me. In the age we live in, most anything can be looked up from your computer. He has not tried to hide anything. Like I have said before, talk to the man before you pass judgement.

Of course Oak Tree, since you have climbed in bed with Hannan, you jump on to suggest I have taken his commnet out of context. It don't matter if it's a concerned voter or an opponent who is making calls, that's standard practice in ALL elections and not something to cry and whine about. Mr. Hannan wants to cry about personal attacks and things aren't about the issues, but for 2 months I have challenged him to answer how he plans to deliver on his own commnents without there being a tax increase cover it. However, when I ask, it's always diverted back to some nonsense bullcrap of him crying about his opponent or how bad things are in the current office. Man up and deliver on the promise of a Ranch for youth NOW. Since it's for youth and requires no monies from taxpayers, then you have a tool to use that has substance. This guy reminds me of Nancy Pelosi, let's pass the Bill in order to find out what's in it. Same as make me Sheriff and see if I do what I say.

Oak Tree, you are freaking hilarious. You slammed a potential voter because of his lack of grammar when it's not him that's running for office. Who cares if he can spell or type a sentence, his point was understood. While Mr. Hannan may very well not be asking to be a guy's brain surgeon, he is asking to be Sheriff and clear and concise communication is CRITICAL. Guess what, the brain surgeon has someone do all his typing for him, it's all transcription. When it comes to law, typos and incoherent wording are often the difference in guilty and not guilty. Will we also have to hire someone to proof read and type all his corespondence? As for intelligence, if I were running for office and using Topix as a medium for introduction, I would damn well have someone proof read EVERYTHING before I posted it. It's simple to put it in Word and spell and grammar check it, then copy and paste it to Topix. They talk about Southerners being illiterate and they can't put a sentence together, well I guess we have proof a damn Yankee can't either.

I will deal forst with the issue of the Youth Ranch.
Jim Hannan has stated repeatedly that a 'Donor' is willing to support the start-up of the youth ranch...AFTER and IF Jim Hannan is elected.
Should he start the ranch at this time, it would be under the supervision of the present administration, which is corrupt and inept.
I wouldn't trust them in an out-house with a muzzle on, so I think Mr. Hannan is right in his decision to hold off until he's elected.
As to the comments he's made about people inquiring about his past and present life, he's talking 'tongue in cheek'. He's mearly stating that it's funny that some people are so interested in his life, but claim that he is not a likely candidate or a threat to the campaign of anyone else that may be on the ballot.
Posting on Topix is just another way to reach more of the citizens of Grainger County. Many people read Topix that would not attend a public rally or campaign event. Mr. Hannan wants to reach those people, too, as many of them are voters, and Topix is a free way to reach them. It's also a way to learn what issues concern voters. If he posts on Topix, it's highly likely that he READS Topix, and lots of people post here how they feel about issues, office holders, and what they would want from any other office holder.
It's also free, and he shows a concern for budget issues in taking advantage of free information releases. Perhaps that's how he can invision doing so much for our county without raising taxes.
I like the way the man thinks. That's why I support him.

More horsecrap.......as I totally expected. ANYONE could start and run a youth ranch. If the 'donors' and Hannan are so concerned about youth and it requires no tax dollars.......they could start and run it now without connection to the current administration. Just like me saying I'm running for sheriff and if you elect me my donor friend will donate 10 million dollars to Grainger Co. BUT......only if you elect ME. Its crap......all politicians want to bring 'the children' in to their campaign for no other reason than to project their fake concern. Like people running for Congress saying we need more education dollars when Clinton spent millions on , No Child Left Behind (which only focuses on lowest common denominator teaching) and Bush increased education spending 50% and it's no better today than 20yrs ago. People don't give a crap about his life....they are only looking for dirt on him in case he becomes viable.....that's STANDARD policy in an election......stop crying. It don't take much time searching on the internet to have many questions about his character.

Oh, I didn't give Grainger enough confidence, but I won't make that mistake again. You have made a very intelligent observation, and I agree with you and the other two folks on here, that do see what is going down. The fake queen and her tree, are singing the candidate's praises, aint' they? That alone should scare the shit out of the entire population of this community!

You're kidding, right? This is possibly the fastest any candidate has ever folded before he even got off the ground. You want to be sheriff, and yet you complain about the "emphasis on you", what the hell did you expect. Come to Grainger county, where everyone is a big old load of hill hicks/ redneck/ stupid, and tell them anything, they'll take your word for it, roflmao! Don't give up your day job, you lost all credibility long before this post was entered. Just blowing smoke, and no one's going to be buying into that plan!

Journey, the information that can be found on the internet is amazing, however, it's not even needed when he opens his mouth about all the things he can do in 'HIS' jail and in the community as Sheriff, but then don't chose to answer how he can fund it without more taxes.

I just looked at the St. Lucie County Circuit Court Clerk website. Shame on you Mr. Hannan. From the looks of some of the court filings against you it looks like you AND your family have made a whole lot of promises to people that you didn't follow through with. I'm sorry, but I'm afraid that I can't put my faith in someone who has to be sued because he didn't uphold his end of the contract. How do you think you can fix the sheriff's department when you couldn't even manage the money in your own businesses and personal life? Empty promises will not get you elected in this town.
