Grainger mom charged after daughter allegedly brings drugs to jail

A Rutledge mother is facing criminal charges for allegedly forcing her 12-year-old daughter to smuggle tobacco and prescription drugs into a local jail for her husband.

Just another one of Grainger County's fine upstanding citizens...LOL, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Until we stop coddling people like this, nothing will change. And frankly, a 12 year old should have been able to say no-there are DARE programs in the schools.

"No sympathy" you need to realize there is two sides to this story.you have no clue what happened all you know is what you have heard and read.You wasn't there!!!Plus,your sorry for trying to blame this on the child.Any programs that they have in schools around here just make children worse,it sure the crap doesn't help them, as you can tell.Half of this county does the same damn thing they just haven't got caught!!!!you better watch what you say I'm sure your not to far from getting into big trouble yourself!Just a little reminder leave the child name out of this bullshit!!!!

Listen here jerkface, at no point in time did I bring a child's name into anything. And just because half the county does it doesn't make it right. As for me gettting in trouble, I can assure you I don't do drugs nor visit anyone in jail who does for that matter. Hell, I don't even visit the jail. It's my understanding she is in jail. I do feel sympathy for the child. She's the one that's been let down by her parents, the system and society as a whole. No child should be living in an environment where they would be forced to engage in illegal activity. I hope her mother has to spend a long time in jail. Sorry piece of trash that she is.

It is my understanding she should be in jail.How do you know she has been let down by society and the system? Everybody has enough to take care of themselves without having to constantly worry about crap like this all the time. That is why we pay taxes.

She's been let down by a system who allows dimwitted drug addicts to keep custody of their children. Her mother is no stranger to trouble, she isn't fit to take care of a fence post, much less a child. I happen to agree with GoodGriefCharlieBrown on this. The family let this girl down by the man being in jail and the so called mother having the child take drugs in to him. It is on video tape. Do you need more proof? That is not a prime example of good parenting. That is not teaching a child morals. That is raising another generation of drug addicts. Children learn from example. The system has not only let this child down, but countless more by not taking them away from their addicted parents. Honestly, I will say what I believe to be right, dangerous or not. Deal with it. I will state once again that this so called mother should be flogged in the streets.

You are certainly very defensive. And how in the Sam Hill can an opinion about something that is a matter of public record be dangerous? If you had understood, besides that particular girl, when I said "dimwitted drug addicts" and their "children", I meant something that goes on systematically.....not just in this one particular case. And frankly, I think anyone who allows their lives to be ruled by a drug culture, whether as the addict or the enabler, is a tad on the dimwitted side. Any parent who would put their child in that situation is dim witted and selfish. I don't have to know them personally to know that. Are you defending that behavior? When people put themselves in compromising positions in the public eye, their ideas of privacy are delusional.

When someone chooses to be a parent, whether it comes about by accident or choice, their job becomes their child or children. First and foremost.

And 12 years is so young to be put in a position of having to decide between obedience or defiance. Even if she felt it was wrong, or she was scared, she was doing what her parent sent her to do. It would be a horrible situation for one that young to have to deal with. What kind of parent would ask their child to do something that is risky and illegal? It's very sad.

I think they both needs to stay in jail but they are out and if was me i would have been put under the jail she still has her kids I think that dcs needs to put the kids in a bettrer home they don't have a change with them taking all the money to buy there drugs. I just don't understand our system if it was me they would have took my kids away and not look back I know that they are still on drugs so someone please help the kids.!!!!!!!!!

Actually, everyone that gets arrested does make the news. It is posted in the weekly paper. There is a long list every week. This practice has been going on long before Layel came into office. There is also a section that tells us how many Mouse lets lose on probation too. Small Town Drama? This is one of the most stomach turning things I have seen lately. In my opinion, it should make the national news. Child abuse should have been added to the long list of charges against this woman. Putting a child in this position is wrong on so many levels. If I were you, I would worry less about what people have to say about it than getting this child some help. This so called mother gave us plently to talk about, without any worry about her own daughter. Sounds like you need a reality check.

That's what I've found astounding about the whole discussion.......the people who've been making excuses for the actions of the mother. It's insane.
