Our family visits TN numerous times each year and we finally have decided it may be time to make the move. We love the lake, mountains and people. We expecially love Grainger County. We have two young children 8 and 6. Where is the best elementary school?

How about going to the central offices and checking the test scores and performance scores for all the schools. If you visit each school, and ignore the dog and pony show a couple will put on for you, you will find that none are better than the other. They ALL do an excellent job of giving the kids the best opportunity for the money available. If you go by any school in the county at or before 7am, you will find the teachers who will be taking care of your children already there preparing for your child's day. That's quite a bit earlier than they are required to be there. If you'll go back by around 5pm that afternoon, you'll find those same teachers still there grading papers and preparing for the next day. You'll find this at ALL the schools. One or two claim to be "better", but at the end of the day, they are not better, nor are they any worse. If your kids are educated in Grainger County, they will receive as good an education here as they will anywhere else. We may not have all the "extras" that other systems have, but one thing we do have is an excellent staff of teachers....from Kindergarten through High School. Move with confidence, but don't expect us to "change things" to suit you. If you come here, you choose to accept who we are, and where you are.

Having kids years ago in both Joppa and Rutledge, I preferred Joppa. The staff is amazing. (Thats not saying the staff at other schools isn't).

I do believe that there is a big difference in the schools. Joppa Elementary School, is the best in my opinion. My family member have went to all of the school in Grainger County, most of them have also said that Rutledge Middle School, Rutledge High Shool, and Beanstation School, is by far the worst to send a child to. Joppa, is the best. I also, have heard great things abut Washburn. If, I had a choices it would be Joppa, if I had to chose from Grainger County.

Everyone has a right to "their opinion". All my knowledge is completely first hand. I'm sure Joppa is proud to have you standing up for the excellent job they do, especially with all your errors in grammar, spelling, sentence structure, capitalization, correct word usage, punctuation, verb tense, pretty much all your post. Joppa IS an excellent school, but so are the other primary/elementary schools in Grainger County. Have you checked the test scores and "state ratings" for the schools? You may want to do that before you post more.

People forget that Joppa was on the bad list and had to have state people come in and help that school. Just this year I read in the paper where Joppa did not meet the goal for two groups in test scores. Do your homework on this school.

Hopefully you didn't go to any of these schools with your bad English/Language skills. Why does your "family member" change schools so often? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!! !

I do NOT like Joppa school. I had a child that attended that school, some of the teachers were horrible. I "totally disagree" with all of "YOU" that think Joppa is the best school out of Grainger County. What is it that makes Joppa so different than the other schools?
