Former town treasurer pleads guilty in embezzlement case

Donald Hewitt, 59, the former longtime treasurer for the town of Ira, pleaded guilty Monday in U.S. District Court in Brattleboro to a felony charge of wire fraud He had originally been charged in state court and faced 10 years in prison.
