I would like to know why the national guard would put this person Brent as as the higest ranking officer to have the responsibility over so many men. What about doing some research on his charactor as a man first. As the story is told all over Jonesboro,Brent has a baby son that does not even carry his last name because he did not want to be a daddy.I heard that his girlfriend had to leave town to get away from him. This this a man to lead soldiers in to combat for the U.S.?

everyone has made mistakes in the past as you have micheal. does this mean he doesnt have the tools necessary to lead troops in battle? i have been to war with this man and he made some great decisions that probably saved some lives. before you start judging someones capacity to be a leader, take a look in the mirror and inventory your mistakes in the past. JFK had issues with his women, was he not a good president??

Shut your hole, ho. He can be the biggest SOB there is and still have the qualities to take men into battle. You join the National Guard, put your life on the line and then tell us he is a coward.

It doesn't matter what he has done in the past. A man who goes to combat beside his brothers at arms is by no means a coward. Call his superior and bitch to them if you don't like it. We can't do nothing about. Just don't get on here and call a soldier a coward. You ungrateful, non deserving, flag burning liberal.

Promotions and military rankings are made based on job performance and dedication, not on what happens in your personal life. Therefore, he would not have received this promotion if he were not deserving of it. You cant judge someones ability to perform their job by listening to "hear say" about their personal life. This deputy is very deserving of his new promotion and deserving of his status as a deputy.

your right.but its not hear say..pure frist hand what ive seen.now if he will run like a coward from the job of being a father, what make you think he wont run like a coward when doing his military work.maybe he wont he hasnt yet...but you never know.
im not judgeing him, could care less about him, hell if it wasnt for him i wouldnt have a family memeber here to day to love.

I really don't know any of you guys but I know sgm barnett. He was my first sergeant in the 1022. I don't care what goes on in his personal life, I know he takes care of his troops and that's all that matters. If any of you has ever been deployed you would know your personal life doesn't mean squat. Its all about leading your troops and keeping their morale up.

I don't know any of you either, but lets all think of the real reason that God put us on this earth. It was not to be a great leader in the National Guard. Read your Bible, a man is suppose to be the shepard of his home. Yes everyone has to work for a living, but it is suppose to be to take care of your first responsibility and that is your family. It may be great that this man can lead troops into battle, but does that make him a great person or is that what to tell your child one day. Think about if you were in his son's place would you think of your dad that wasn't there for you ever as a great dad just because he leads troops or woul you wonder why he couldn't be there to lead you every now and then. Whst exactly is he teaching his son, to do the same thing he did, that it is ok to turn your back on your children as long as you take of other peoples needs first. So because is a great leader that makes it ok to turn your back and never put your innocent childs needs first. Think about what you are saying before you speak out and defend someone especially if you all have kids or a great father who was there for you. Try putting yourself in his son's life, since a child's life and love is more important than any job or rank you have life.

Two sides, I didn't really know when it comes to an innocent childs life there is a such thing as two sides. A child doesn't ask for the situations that happen to them, it is up to the parents to be there and teach the child the right way to go in life. How could there be two sides, that is common sense, you are either there or not there. This man could either be there and be a good father, or choose not to be there. You go through hell or highwater for your child. You with two sides what if you had a parent that wasn't ever there for you and you knew in your heart growing up that your parent could have been, but just chose not to. You either take a stand and do the right thing or you don't. It takes a real man to do the right thing for his child. If you can take responsibility for a hundred men, you mean you can't find the time, attention, or love in your heart for one innocent child. That is what makes the character of a real man. Those of you that has said what matters is the way the troops are treated, you mean to tell me the first one you hug getting on or off the plane to go to war is your fellow troops. No, everyone knows if you love your children or family you can't stand to leave them and can't wait to get home to them. so it does matter, why can someone help protect troops that are really strangers to them ,but not love and protect their blood children. That is what is wrong with people today, they think too much about the wrong things in life and not what is important, which are the children, the next generation.

Stop all of you .I have heard that this man and his family has a bad drinking issue.we should pray that all should go to detox. They need help.He is right. he should not go around his son until he may or may not go to A.A. I AGREE WITH HIM THAT HE SHOULD STAY AWAY UNTIL HE CAN COMPLETE AT LEAST 9 OR 10 OF THE 12 STEP PROGRAM. GOD HELP HIM AND HIS FAMILY that they will recover from this horrible demon on their backs.
