Has anyone checked the stepdad's dna against the dna
that was found in the condom?
He's a little too quick to judge Kevin...and what's up with wanting the phone and "deleting" Nona's numbers. That is weird considering his step-daughter
was just killed.
good question

I'm not from Russellville but I thought about checking this forum here after seeing this on TV last night. I know so much can change with editing and I as the viewer cannot know the whole story. It did look like the guy was innocent and that the cops were a bit overzealous - but then again... editing. Just too bad the girl is gone. The stepfather was a bit creepy. Good luck to both families.

I for one thought the stepdad acted guilty.

The girl's mother acts like she is under the stepfather's control. The stepfather is highly controlling and too 'clean'. I suspected the stepfather immediately.

I can't believe no one is checking this guy. I mean the stepdad has to be it, hopefully someone from the RPD will look into this.

I also thought it was the stepdad immediately!! Definitely creepy! How can they not think he was a suspect?! And the mother seemed much too emotion what-so-ever...very odd to me!!

Oh for sure, this is just wild. Then on top of that now the family of the girl is trying to file a civil suit for wrongful death against him. I hope they lose and they check the stepdad.

My 11 year old son even figured out it was the stepdad. The mother did not show any emotion during the entire interview. She did not protect her daughter from the molesting father and now she has allowed this freak to kill her only child. When he said "wouldn't it be funny if it was Kevin that did it" I about vomited. It gave me such a sickening feeling to hear the word "funny". How would that be funny? I think the pervert was jealous of Kevin and thought that he would pin it on Kevin and no one would ever suspect him. It's time for the mom to step up and put the real killer in prison.

There's no way Kevin did it, the stepfather totally had something to do with it. I wonder how brainwashed Nona's mother is, she's known him since kindergarten.

I TOTALLY agree.I saw Dateline also and eventho I live in Arkansas{Not Russellville, But was born and raised there til I was a teen}I have NOT kept up with the case because of all the "crap" in the Papers. I just Stopped reading it. But after seeing the show..Mom didn't seem that broke up.I KNOW ,I have two boys and if anything happened to either of them I couldn't be so "composed" and I SURE wouldn't erase the last words my child may have written for a $40 phone !!
"Wonder what she said to whom? "
And I would really be curious as to WHERE the step-dad did his "Christmas shopping".. Russellville? You know you can be anywhere in Russellville in 5 minutes..Even from a "store" to an "Apartment"..Somethi ng just don't sit right with him..9:00 curfew ? for a 18 or 19 year old???
And..Nona & Kevin had decided to take it to the next step..marriage.Maybe step-dad didn't want to "give her Away" ??????
People keep saying the boy {Kevin}acted "Strange" at the scene...Either of my boys would probably do the same thing he did..Try to SAVE a life before assuming the worst..
Maybe the Police dept. needs to watch a few CSI shows...might learn something..

I also just watched dateline and feel that Kevin is definitely innocent. I also agree that the stepfather and mother act very odd indeed and very emotionless. There is a reason she moved out of that house after he moved in and I don't think it was because of his "rules." As everyone had said, she was not into partying and was a good beautiful girl. I more think he had probably tried to do something with her so she moved out. They had all loved Kevin before that and he had never shown anything but compassion and caring for Nona so why the sudden turn about except to take the focus off of themselves.

I watched the 48 hours mystery episode and Dateline episode. After watching 48 hours I was wondering maybe Kevin did do it but he seemed like such a nice kid. Then I watched Dateline and they presented a lot more information about the cell phone, and interviewed Nona's mother and stepfather more. They definately gave me the creeps and made me think the step father did it. Her daughter hasn't been dead that long and she doesn't even tear up when talking about her. I know someone who lost their daughter in a car accident 8 years ago and they still tear up a little talking about her. The mom let her first husband sexually abuse her daughter, without ever knowing (supposeably) or covering it up she would probably do the same with this man. The stepfather did it!

ya'll CAN'T say the Stepfather killed Nona just because he "looks" guilty or you have " a feeling".

YOU HAVE TO HAVE EVIDENCE!!!!! AND it has been 2 years since Nona's mother lost her daughter

People deal with loss in different ways!

I'm tired of people blaming The stepfather when there is NO proof that he killed her.

I agree with those who say the stepdad and mother are involved.

If you watched 48 hours Nona's mother couldn't stop smiling and smirking when talking about the case. That is a completely inappropriate response to your dead daughter.

Either one or both were responsible for their daughter's death.

Having lost a grown child you dont laugh when your talking aobut themeven a year after they died a terrible death and Didn't the parents of Nona allow this relationship since they were 15??
Then all of a sudden the STEP FATHER starts calling Kevin names Mom has already proven not much of mom if Nona's dad molested Nona at age 6 and all of a sudden step dad is protective and grabbed her phone right away!! Did the police check the cell phone company for phone records. Sorry but the minute her step daddy opened his mouth i suspected him Maybe Nona didnt want what daddy did and how can you be a tightwad when daughter is doing all the beauty pagents those are expensive!!! DO a check on those phone records just cause there was dna on a condom pack doesnt mean a neighbor who visited didn't pick it up off the kitchen floor and put on counter.
