At yesterdays city council meeting the subject was brought up by City Attorney Dehart about possible conflicts of interest between Commissioner Hudson doing business with the city concerning vehicles.Well excuse me but isn't there a HUGE conflict of interest between Mayor DeHart and his boy acting as City Attorney ? Boy DeHart has some big balls talking to commissioners about conflicts of interest while his daddy is sitting in the same room as mayor.

I looked at the radio website lakercountry.com too and the news story specifically mentioned "City Attorney Matt DeHart" , what happened to Byrom ? And it also mentions by name Mayor Hollis DeHart being present at the regular city commission meeting yesterday. I think this is an egregious , flagrant conflict of interest within Russell Springs city government allowing mayor's boy to serve as city attorney . After all the recent city government scandals , once again they jump from the frying pan into the fire allowing such a situation to continue .

Russell County is fraught with this kind of thing. Bobby Betram got away with using city funds to blacktop his private subdivision. Oh no wait didn't he pay a couple of hundred dollars in fines for thousands of dollars of work?

There shouldn't be as much conflict with Commissioner Hudson as with Mayor DeHart and his city attorney son. Hudson's have done work for the city many years. With mayor and son, it is called nepotism in plain, simple English language. Nepotism: 'The act of showing favoritism to relatives or friends in the work force.' It's definitely a conflict of interest with the mayor having his son beside him making legal decisions. It's not only a conflict of interest but illegal when the attorney's contract is soon up. The commissioners need to hire another attorney besides Byrom and DeHart as soon as possible. They don't need added legal problems as in the past.

If I ever need a lawyer, I'm gettin' Bobby Bertram. Apparently, he is a thousand times smarter than the rest of the attorneys around here. He usually wins his cases.

Tell me WTF has that got to do with the two DeHarts glaring conflict of interest? And just think the Mayor can't wait to really work a personal agenda with his boys' backing if voters approve a new council govt.

The mayor doesn't need the attorney's "backing" to carry out city business. If his son gave him the go-ahead to do something illegal, and the mayor took his advice, they would BOTH be in trouble. Hollis is honest,as is Matt, and quite frankly, neither of them are that stupid.

I can almost guarantee what happened. Timmy Hudson must not be jumping when the PD cracks the whip, so they have sicced Wayne on him.

I actually had him once on a civil matter and he is really smart and well connected. You have to be crooked to work in law in this town.

If you all will dig a little deeper you will find that this is no more wrong than the city clerk's (and you all know who she is)son being employed by the city also you know she signs the paychecks and it is a proven fact that he makes as much as the full time employees and he works part time!!!
