I am appalled at the Russell Springs Ky School system that is turning their head from the confrontation of some 'Bully" kids that decided it would be funny to put hand sanitizer in another schoolmates drink. This is a crime!

I am not surprised at the school system turning their heads at anything. Seriously, we have teachers sleeping with students, all kinds of racism being tolerated, and teachers using their days as playtime! Why on earth would you think they would care about the safety of a child? But their day is coming! Havent you seen all the school officials (principals, superintendents, teachers, etc) being indicted in this state for NOT doing their job appropriately? Russell County will have justice!!!!

I haven't heard anything about this. Which school was it? I know from experience that some of the popular kids (football players, basketball players, cheerleaders, etc.) are rarely punished for bullying other kids at the high school and middle school.

That's because those "popular kids" usually have the correct last name, therefore, the officials in school uphold early the old Russell County addage--"it only matters if you have the correct last name." No principal or teacher wants to risk their salary and pension coming down on a "popular" kid whose parents make more in a month than they do in a year. Bullys are cowards and these "popular kids" in mama and daddy's cars are learning the ropes around here early--"my last name is to important for me to get in trouble." Pathetic.

I agree with yep. We have witnessed first hand how the school system deals with bullies. Much the same way the court system and everything else in Russell County deals with people. It depends on your last name. If the child that was assaulted(yes poisoning someones drink is assault) had a certain last name it would have been dealt with. My daughter was bullied in the RC school system and it was usually written off as "kids will be kids,or what did she do to make them do that to her? She was kicked, punched, called names, and ridiculed often. So glad we are out of that system.

I have a six year old at russell springs elementary that they are constantly picking on because I won't put my child on medication. They think they should get paid to do nothing.

This incident IS assault and if a teacher was informed she is lawfully obligated to report it. ALL known incidents of assault MUST be reported; call Child Services, not the principle or the school board.

Call state police in Columbia if you really want to report this incident and see something done.

this is bad at the high school and middle school. its been going on for way to long. ive called, emailed, and spoken face to face with teachers about it. if some of these kids are not stopped i will be taking it further! they will wish they would have stopped these kids. dosent matter to me if they play ball or not. if they are a burton, kerr, stephens, best or whosoever it dosent matter to me. they hide behind the ball team and f.c.a. when they are called on it. BULL! THIS HAS GOT TO STOP!!!!!!

This is accepted and expected behavior for Russell County School staff. This is what the popular kids are taught. It then carries on later in life when they are given a "warning" by cops when they're caught doing something wrong--because they have the correct last name. But then again, most of our cops around here were bullies themselves in school...and maintaining that fine tradition while in uniform. All any bully needs is a well placed and thorough a$$ kicking...something they don't get from mom and dad.

these kids have hid behind sports, cheerleading, and fca for years. one day people will wish something was done about it. kids who are bullied sometimes go off, dosent make it right, but i see why it happens.

It is pretty sad how our county works one of my friends told me that they were going i believe it was 100 on bernard ridge and they got stopped but they got out of it because they told the cop a joke and made him laugh stuff like that makes me not only mad but upset it's all about who you know not what you know around here the russell county school system is the biggest joke i have ever seen in my life if it were up to me id fire every one in the high school except 2 or 3 teachers they don't give a rats ass about our education half of them don't even do their job if you have the right last name or have connections you can get out of almost anything

I am now a parent of a 5 yr old and have taken in my abused baby niece which is two now. I was bulled since 4th grade. And did get in a few fights for taking up for myself. I walked funny. I took a book corner to a boys face BC he kept on and he did stop. That was in 6th grade. Ran into this boy a few years ago at store with both children and he apologized to me and said he deserved it. Neither one of us had "big last names" but we didn't get in trouble. Now his kids r BN bullied at school and he's angry about it. Funny how things happen... Maybe its for a reason but why can't we go to school have a normal non drastic day and everyone nice. That will be the day. But yes turn things in to social services. That's a good idea if they actually look into these problems. Them down in Jamestown r a joke half the time.
