Let's call it the way it is. The Democratic and Republican parties are essentially, one in the. It will be argued that they are in fact two, But I would argue that in merit and business model they are one. They share the same goal, Self preservation though the status quo.

The more old people that die off, the less relevant they both become. There's a good reason that over a third of the voting pool describe themselves as independent regardless of which side they're registered as. That number keeps growing.

I stated out in my adult life as a Democrat, then changed my support to the republican party and now I vote Independent.

But choosing between the two parties item by item or candidate by candidate doesn't seem to make any since either. Because they seem, to me, to one in the same.
Perhaps if we joined The two parties and then introduced a different party in the void, would give congress the diversity we need to make some badly needed reforms towards restoring our liberties.

I agree that at certain times, one is as bad as the other! I have never strictly voted my party. Don't know too many people who do. I personally usually vote for the party that appears will do the best job! Sometimes that difficult to figure out, sometimes easy!
And yes, lots of people have become independents! It's because of frustration of both parties. I do not think any truly significant changes will made until we the people insist in "term limits". Short term limits would be good with me. I don't believe anyone of either party should be allowed to be a Senator or in the House of Reps for their lifetimes. You get into too much of that "you scratch my back-I'll scratch yours" kind of thing.
The people should demand a vote on term limits. We also should NOT be paying expensive insurance so any of them can get plastic surgery, and / or any other unnecessary thing.
When they go out of office they should have to do as the rest of us & cover their own ins. Also should not get huge income once out of office. They should have ONLY 401k's & save for retirement like everyone else. This country is broke.
They should only get paid for days they actually work & have some sort of "other" gainful employment. We should demand NO aircraft courtesy of tax payers, & No picking up the tab on extravagant vacations, etc.
Also ALL presidents should have a job or income of their own when they leave office. The ONLY thing tax payers should have to cover is a minimum 4 body guards. That's it. No free limos when leaving office. No free expensive schools for children. No free anything. NO FREE RiDES.
In the olden days Presidents went back to their jobs previously held. Nothing wrong with them doing that now. Besides, they ALL get rich off books. Get lots of kick back monies & homes in other countries for free. So they don't NEED to be taken care of by us !!

Checks n balances and each dept doing their part. WE NEED PEOPLE TO READ LEGISLATION and stop depending on our USED TO BE REPS OF THE PEOPLE (NOW REPS FOR BIG MONEY) VOTERS have to take on more responsiabilty to make sure COLOR OF LAWS or LEGISLATION THAT TAKES RIGHTS TO BE STOPPED ON THE VOTING FLOOR BY HOUSE AND SENATE..BILL FAILS IN THE HOUSE..THE SENATE TRIES TO SNEAK IT BY..VOTERS ARE THE FAILURES...TO themselfs..Lawyers are only go be just where the money goes.COLOR OF THE LAW REALLY SHOULD BE STOPPED BY LAWYERS..THE BOBBY WILSONS ARE ALL BUT GONE NOW!!

I'm starting to lean towards the Libritarian party. I know they don't have a snowballs chance in hell of winning much. But maybe a little at a time. Somehow we have to take our country back from the legal industry and corporate america.
