Does anyone know of a decent dog groomer in Russell Springs? I was doing business with the oldest dog groomer in the county but stopped because it gave me the creeps. Every time I picked my dog up I would find nix or bald spots and the hair they did have left looked horrible. Also, one of the girls has a permanent bitchface and the other one allows her creepy son(s) to live there. As if that wasn't enough, the place always smells like urine and the floor is rarely swept. Can anyone suggest a better, more professional groomer?

I am sorry that you have had such a bad experience at the shop; many have said that since momma retired things have been really bad ie. grooming quality has been terrible, shop has smelled and been dirty, animals have not responded well to joyce and the staff the same as they did to momma. One thing for sure, their will never be another groomer like her here. Even though mom enjoys being retired I know she misses being there a lot, though she prolly wouldnt admit if you asked her..LOL. I hope that you find a good place to take your pets.

Well I know 4 a fact the air conditioner is Not working there right now and hasn't 4 awhile now. The urine smell will certainly knock your sinuses for a loop. My bet is people whose dogs I heard barking and whining do not even know their pet is sitting in there cage in this awful Heat. It is a shame anyone would try to run a business in those conditions. I'm wondering Why the health department is Not doing something about it. Like closing it down. I'd bet the conditions do Not meet health standards of Any kind.

Just cuz her sons are different from most peeps and they live there{which has a 2 bedroom home built within the building} doesnt mean theyre creepy or strange. They are very good ppl. Peoples feelings get hurt when imature people cant keep things to themselves like they should instead of talking s*** on a computer. Tell 'em to their faces or keep your opinions to urselves. Less chaos and stress for all that way. If you think they mistreated your pet YOU SHOULD OF SAID SOMETHING TO THEM AT THAT TIME!!!!

What health dept? I would wonder if the resturants are actually checked, I seriously doubt it. Such a busy person does not have time to check on the conditions for the poor animals (sarcasm). Can anyone ever remember anything actually being checked for sanitary conditions in Russell County? A political appointee.....is always busy.

Joyce is a hard working woman who gets up at 5 am every day to clean and maintain the kennels in that shop for the dogs being boarded as well as animals she has taken in to find homes for, she feeds on a regular schedule so that the animals know when they are going to get fed. She keeps all the dogs in those kennels bathed and brushed. They have heat in the winter and fans and usually air in the summer as well as the ability to get outside in the fresh air. If their a/c is tore up they may not right now, but getting a central heat and air system fixed isn't exactly cheap though. The dogs that come in to be groomed stay in the room directly behind her grooming area. The dogs you hear barking when you come in are her dogs. They are kept just as well as the other animals that are left in her care. It's a boarding shop, animals pee/poop because they are well fed. She cleans it up as she goes. It's not possible to know when each dog is going to decide to pee or poop, she does check often so that she can clean it up though. As far as her sons, they're good people. Always polite, they may be different than most people, but they're not bad/creepy. They may be lazy and cause poor Joyce more headache than she needs, but that's not her fault. She runs that place by herself and I have to say from my experience with her over the past 4 years she does an extraordinary job! You put more than 10 animals in one place they're going to have some what of an odor. That does not mean it's not clean. Doesn't your bathroom smell after you poop? Yeah, so now multiply that by about 15 or 20 to account for the dogs that go through that shop daily and keep in mind dog and cat feces is quite a bit more potent than ours. That woman deserves a medal for everything she does for stray animals and people who need help at times as well. She's truly a blessing and by far the most kind hearted person I have ever met.

Wouldn't the health department be a bit more concerned about conditions affecting humans?

Well I would think if it affects my dog then it affects me, since my dog stays in the house. For example, if my dog should pick up worms from an unclean environment (eggs dropped by other dogs) whether inside or outside for a potty break, then that puts me at risk & anyone who comes in contact with my dogs or my lawn. Humans can contract roundworms from dogs, & I believe whipworms & pinworms as well. Not sure about tapeworms. I know roundworms can survive years in the ground, even through freezes. I keep my dog treated with a heartworm medication year round, which also protects against round, whip, & hook worms. But many people do not. And tapeworms have to be treated for separately from the others because it takes a different medicine to kill them. So bearing just that in mind, & not considering my dog getting kennel cough, or any other contagion from other dogs, I myself am very concerned about cleanliness for my dog & her surroundings. I don't know about the groomer in question but I would want one to be clean & disinfected. It would seem if that were being done, then bad smells would be minimal. I know of a very cheap product that takes urine smells out very well. I've been in very busy grooming places & the smell is typically a tell for whether it is clean or not. If you go into one & the ammonia of urine is profound then chances are it is not clean & not being properly disinfected. To me, that IS a health concern not just for my dog but myself as well.

Nash doesn't certified groomers and i have been to all the groomers in town and i really like the new one in town i think you need to know your groomer and ask to see the place and if they will not show you than you should have lots of questins to ask your self and the groomer the groomers are there to make you happy but that is how i like to look at things when it comes to my dogs. As for my self i really love the new groomer at Bedazzling Pet Grooming

You sure should check the place out. See the kennels & grounds of where your dog will be if you're going to board. And check everything out if you're getting him groomed. See the bathing area, types of shampoos, check for cleanliness, etc. If they are reluctant or won't show you the place, you should run & never look back. Same with Vets, even the AKC recommends that BEFORE you chose a vet, you should check out ALL of the office, boarding, & surgery areas. You can get a good feel for how they treat animals when you take a little tour of the place, including the boarding area. I was shocked awhile back to find a vet who treated large dogs BUT had no large kennel or crate to put one in after surgery. The crate needs to at least be as big as the dog is & allow him to stand or turn around. You can never be too sure if you don't check it out.

I agree with Stix (thank you) If you have something to say about someone, say it to their face. All you succeed in doing when you say it on here is smearing someones good name which happens to be defined as slander. If you happen to really have a problem with their service then go and talk to them face to face. I do happen to know that the animals there are taken care of very well. As for the pets sitting in cages in this heat, they are not in cages, they are in kennels which do have good airflow and outside/inside areas. As for the whining and barking.. they usually only do that when people go close to the outside kennels. And it does happen to be posted to stay back a certain distance. You take 20+ animals and you will get a smell, no matter how clean you keep them. And they actually happen to use an air purifier in the grooming area just to help with that problem..

As for the Nash academy, I know for a fact that the Groomer at classy K9 went there and is certified so you can think what you would like they both as well have to, many seminars. If you Like yo can ask you self, And yes people do have there own likes and dislikes on groomers them selves i personally like Classy K9.

Yes it is about the Groomers on Bluebird.. and I really do not appreciate the way people are talking about them. It just shows how little people really are when they prefer to sit behind a screen and bad mouth others instead of saying something to the person's face. Cowards all of them. And btw I know you satansdaughter... not nice! You act like a friend to their faces and then stab them in the back???? wtf!

I, personally did not say ANYTHING bad about joyce or the others ; I simply stated that other persons have made comments to me, and what their complaints were.
