Perhaps you should ask the church you attend, unless of course you do not go to one. My guess is you do not, so you are posting here.

Most congregations take care of their own.

In today's falling economy, most times it doesn't matter if you work or not, extra money is just not there. The only good thing about the economy now is that it has temp. lowered gas prices. If you are truely not just looking for a hand out, contact the school. They may know of different programs that you may try to sign up for. You could also re-examine your budget and possibly cut some things out, I don't know your situation, so I can't really go there, but that would be just one idea. It may be hard in a commerical world to try and teatch kids that material things aren't everything, but try not to go overboard. Simple things and sale items would be better than nothing. I do wish you the best. Hope you and your family have a wonderful Holiday.

There are no words to say to this! Other then you're a BUM looking for a HAND OUT!!! I agree with the person who posted about collecting cans. What's wrong with getting out, and walking up and down the roads looking for cans? Or, is it you just don't want to work, and want it handed to you for nothing! You're sickening to ask for help from a Church, when you don't even attend one!

i think a really good place to get kids gifts are at peddler's malls and flea markets. granted the obvious, it's not new..but when it comes to toys, as long as they work, they don't care! sometimes they just need a good washrag taken to them. i've seen a lot of peddler's mall with claire's jewelry and other products as well, that *are* new and still packaged, just a lot cheaper than mall prices. The best peddler mall I've found is in Campbellsville, across from Wal-Mart. You should check it out =) God bless You!

Our schools do have a family resource center that can help people. Look in the phone book or just call the school of your choice. They should be able to help you or steer you to help. I hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday season. I hope you don't think all people are like a few of these idiots on this site. Most people in Russell County are hard working, Jesus loving, big hearted people. The bad usually shows up more often, but our county is full of good people who help others without any expectations of thanks or being repaid.

maybe you should stop and think about the real meaning of christmas. Jesus Birthday! Teach your children young get them in church and the material things won't matter.
Cut back on other things? do you smoke? run the roads? eat out? buy useless junk? drink? If you do any of the above that would be a way to start saving and not waiting on a hand out. I understand its not the childs fault but think about what you are teaching them!

i donate every year to the toys for tots, so don't be calling people a bum. Thats what i dnate money for is the children. They should have toys for christmas. and no questions asked. If you don't donate which i doubt that you do, You need to keep your cruel remarks to yourself.

Also, if anyone else would like to email me concerning struggling families who need help with food/toys for Christmas, PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT ME. I will do ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING within my power to help out. I usually sponsor a few children each Christmas through the Salvation Army in Lexington but will not have the opportunity to do so this year because I have moved. No child should be denied a memorable holiday season because of this atrocious economy.

Who was it said, St Paul maybe: don't give a person a fish to eat, teach them how to fish and they can feed themselves.
