What I unerstand Baptist Healthcare is now managing our hospital. Baptist Healthcare owns Central Baptist in Lexington and other hospitals in Ky.

My question would be why do we even have a hospital in RC? They clearly cannot and do not handle emergencies. I mean, let's say you break a bone, you can only get an X-ray there. That's it. No treatment. You cannot be seen by an orthopedic. So why waste time going there? And if by chance they do put a little brace on your leg or arm until you can get to "another REAL medical facility", then the brace is if the utmost cheapest kind. Pitifully cheap and almost useless.
So, what are they there for? Just to house older people and insure that whatever their issue is they do in fact die? After of course their billed for everything they possibly can until the coverage runs out or will no longer approve testing.
Tell me what good the hospital does? I truly want to know.

Russell County is one of the worst hospitals ever! A few weeks ago my husband was mowing and a rock hit him in the eye. He couldn't see out of his eye. I took him to the Russell County ER. The girl working the desk told us that they were full and my husband would have to wait in the waiting room. I said "shouldn't he be took right in? This is his eye and you all are supposed to treat it like a trauma". She said, "no it's not considered an emergency". WHAT?!!! So we walked out and I took him to Westlake. They were busy but the girl at the desk put us in a room right then. When she came in to get my husband's information, I told her what had happened and she couldn't believe it. She said that the girl was supposed to treat it like a trauma because of the fact that my husband could've lost his eye.

We have a hospital for local doctors with hospital privilidges to use to moonlight in and pad their practises. They milk those hospital welfare medicaid patients lining those crisp lab coat pockets with the extra medicaid money they make peeking in welfare medicaid swing bed rooms after scanning the patients charts for five minutes.

The ER has a very bad reputation in the past but with new management these issues should improve.

Unfortunately, too often the only comments you hear about the hospital are from the people that have had bad experiences and you will have that anywhere. They saved a member of my family's life.

I can't see why they are going to do such a huge expansion, when what they like to call their census, is almost always very low numbers! Makes about as much sense as putting new sidewalks in Russell Springs on streets where maybe 3 people per month will walk on them! And don't even get me started on the sidewalks between RS and J'town! Maybe a total of 15 , 20 people walking or jogging ever use them. would make a lot more sense to have four lanes instead of that traffic choking mess that's there now, thanks to Wallace Wilkerson!!

They're not increasing the number of inpatient beds, they're increasing OR,ER,X-ray,Lab,etc. because these are their busier areas that need more space.
As far as sidewalks go, they're built by the city and roads are built by the state.

Ya know, I probably knew that already!! Still doesn't change the FACT, that in both cases, it's still a waste of money, or at the very best, in both cases, it could've been spent more wisely! Whatever!!

MY step mom was taken there last march 2011 and they said she was having a a panic attack so her sons rushed her to Lexington. She had had a massive heart attack, only 20 percent of her heart works.two weeks ago she went to see her heart specialist and he said only 15 percent of her heart is working, they had put a pacemaker and defibrillator in last year, but he said even if she had a small attack she wouldn't make it.It is so sad when they could of helped and didn't,she is a 54yr old woman that always worked her whole life and know has to stay in the house. She picked out her funeral plot last week,So thank you Russell County Hospital for helping her for her panic attack or The DR that said she was just having a panic attack, but don't worry she has had a lawyer since this happened, she wont see the money but her kids will but they don't want the money they want there mom to be in there life's for many years, but the Dr doesn't see that happening because he said there was nothing else they could do,to get her affairs in order.

I believe the three lane highway instead of 4 lane between Russell Springs and Jamestown was changed from 4 lane (which Wilkinson had planned)by then Governor Martha Layne to 3 lanes because she cut the funds. I think she had said 4 lanes "wasn't needed".

If you think Russell County Hospital is bad try Somerset....their Emergency Room is a nightmare where you wait for 3 to 4 hours and then, get briefly looked at and sent home. Or better yet, try a stay in one of their rooms where the nurses check you in and leave you alone. I think we are blessed to have a good hospital in this county; granted, they are limited in services they offer but the treatment is better than anywhere around!

The Bank of Jamestown got that changed because 5 lanes would take out their brand new branch office at Airport Road.

I had an emergency this last week-end and went to the emergency room at Russell county Hospital. I was treated courteously and competently. Dr. Perkins did a great job along with a new guy. I don't know how we would make it without the hospital emergency room.
