Russell County Industrial Development Authority

State Auditor Adam Edelen said at Thursday's news conference on special taxing district reform that HB 1 would require taxing districts to register with the state, making it easier to track them. Those that failed to turn in their required paperwork or financial information could be subject to an audit by Edelen's office. All special taxing districts would also have to comply with county ethics codes.
How does serving on the local industrial development board and putting up buildings in the industrial park work as far as ethics codes in Russell county?

Yes, what is the big mystery's secret? By big mystery I mean no jobs of major employment coming to the area. Local politics is the answer. Why has no Wal-Mart came here? Other fast food chain resturants? Because developers know that small towns mean small politics. Kickbacks, favors and under-the-table dealing rules and they simply don't want to mess with it. But its not just here, its all over Kentucky. Occasionally we get an announcement from the governor saying a business is coming to Kentucky and bringing "200 jobs". Toyota was the last one to take a chance here. The best we're gonna do around here is maybe another saw mill, because the rich want to stay rich. "Industrial authority" pfffffft.

The Industrial Development Board is nothing but a wall that prevents anything positive from coming to our county. The county judge should have enough knowledge about county government and fiscal leadership that he can recruit industry and make Russell County a good place to live...he gets paid enough. Sadly, he needs the advice of a group who doesn't want anything here other than their businesses. Consider the facts, Bruss is about the only new factory to come here in the last 15 years. We have no new restaurants, except Mexican restaurants, no new stores or tourist accommodations such as motels or truck stops. The blood line of our county leadership will always remain tainted with failure because they don't want anything better for us. IF it's true they regulate pay and incentives offered by industries here, that is a shame...but there again, it's all about taking care of the clique. Sad to say, if you want progress, leadership and a proactive government, don't look here. If you desire to rebut my post, do so by telling me 5 examples of solid growth in this county....

Where is the fiscal court county ethics committee on the issue concerning an industrial authority board member putting up a building in the industrial park he is overseeing? The fiscal court is serving as the "pass thru" agent for government grant money going to the industrial development authority.
