I agree completely. However, many live here for these reasons: 1. They and their ancestors have always lived here, so familiarity. 2. They are scared to take a chance anywhere else, familiarity breeds security and comfort. 3. Some have no desire to improve their station in life. They are content on drawing food stamps and SSI each month and hustling to keep the buzz of their choice and swapping sex partners/husbands/wives around, comfort breeds contentment. Many buy into the hype that those outdated docks and foul-smelling lake are still "god's country." The ones that buy into that are the same ones who stay for the first three reasons. Then there are those whose deepest heart dream is to leave but simply can't for any number of reasons. Life IS good here for some but not all.

Since I'am is obviously one of our content citizens, its safe to say, he/she/it is in good company on Topix.

Just because you don't seem to have a college education, it doesn't mean that most of Russell County doesn't. Also, I don't think that anyone can have as much control over a persons life as you say they do, unless you let it happen.
