Yes it is sad and how did this happen??? Our Administration, Supt. and a few board members....They try to micro manage instead of letting the staff do their job. We lost a lot of good loyal people and this is what you get.....EK is going down and fast!!

Sue Kelley is the problem with the EK district. We have lost a few great teachers/aids/staff in the last few years with her at the wheel. She will continue to run this district into the ground as long as the BOE lets her. First it was Ms. Denesha and Mrs. Johnson, and now Ms. Varian??? She's let go the staff members that seem to care about the students most and all she is worried about is her paycheck! Something needs to be done, these children and their education should come first! It's quite sad what is happening while she is in charge!

Nothing is wrong with our school. The voters made that clear when they shot down that stupid groups ideas of what was wrong and passed the budget. The budget passed, the people spoke. Just because a group of 4 people cause a bunch of fuss does not mean there is a huge problem. They cause more peobs than they fix. Fact!

I agree good educators who care about the students are being pushed out so the school can be run the way she wants it. It's too bad teachers who have an excellent relationship with the students and who are there for the students are being kicked to the curb. The students need mentors and teachers they can trust not one they are scared of.

In my experience the school is very discrimitory to my handicapp son. In trying to "downsize" the budget they opted him to go to another school rather than hire the "state funded" special teacher for my son. Although I do agree on the lack of inspiration and over-disgrunteled teachers all around these schools in our area, there are still teachers that go out of their way for the kids and are awesome people in general. I do like the kindergarten staff and a few others...but the moral of e.k. is very,Very Low. Not everything is about craming as much as you can into a childs head and hope it sticks!!! teach a child how to learn in their own individual way and I think we would get much better results. It just always seems as though we are trying to keep up our apperance so much that the kids fall behind.(I would like to mention that I was an abused student in hermon dekalb by a faulty faculty. the principal was later removed but not until after I was attending another school that i did very well in and graduated ahead of my class. The teachers dimeanor make all the diffrence in the world. to except that evrey student is diffrent and require a more flexible and excepting environment which they can thrive. But it all starts at the top.

"state funded"??? You jackass. The entire school is "state funded". All the teachers that work there work for the state. The state are the ones that ultimately down sized the special Ed department by not providing the funding for the special Ed teacher in 2012. Use your brain before you write something.

Well I think they may finally be doing something...one person let go about 10 more need to follow. Although I am undetermined whether it was a smart choice to fire the one they did or if she was trying to help the students. Up in the air about that decision but I do hope there are more terminations in the NEAR future of a select few people who are calling themselves teachers.

I am just wondering why the taxpayers in the area have not heard anything about letting go of a person. Are we left in the dark once again??? I believe our Supt. should step down and let someone in there that has some idea of how to work with others to accomplish what we use to have. I can remember when our other Supt. was in there we were listed as #3 with other schools, now I see we are #32 out of 33.... Must be something she has done to turn it around so quickly!! Sad but true, we have lost what once was a great place.
Come on board ....open your eyes and take a look at the whole picture....she has brought nothing but agony and very low moral to our school.

I am not at all surprised tax payers were unaware of someone being let go. I completely agree with miakoda the superintendent should be replaced and pu someone in there that is able to reverse all of the negativity she has brought to our school.

It's funny that the citizens of our area completely shot her stupid group down by voting yes on the budget and no on VanBrocklin yet she won't go away. Just continues to annoy and try and seem important when he is not. What a joke.

We all know that you are the same person on all the topix comments, because you are related to the pres. of the board. Hey thats okay, they will get what they deserve because now the commissioner is involved.
We will watch as you squirm....
And as far as calling people names, that makes you look lower than low. And the church will not help you here....

It's quite sad what the community is doing. As stated before, all these people voted on the budget and the board members as well. I quite distinctly remember when Ms. Varian took over these same people calling for her head and saying she was the worst thing that has happened. It's all ignorant citizens who have no idea what they are talking about. I honestly think we should let these people try and run the school and watch it crumble to the ground to prove they do not know anything when it comes to administering a school district.

The current administrators are already letting us watch it crumble which is very very sad. They are allowing our children to be bullied by their teachers, they hate to go to school because of the ridicule and the embarrassment some of these "educators" are making them feel. Quite pathetic, these students have very few role models and very few teachers to confide in if need be. SAD SAD SAD.
