Imports Erode U.S. Wheat Gluten Industry

There are 2 comments on the Hugh Hewitt story from May 4, 2007, titled Imports Erode U.S. Wheat Gluten Industry. In it, Hugh Hewitt reports that:

“Imagine if this was a child _ instead of 30,000 pets. How about 30,000 children? Would we be thinking, 'Gosh, I am glad I saved a few cents on that loaf of bread I bought,'”

Even as fears grow over contaminated imported wheat gluten in recalled pet food, U.S. production has been so eroded by low-cost imports that it can no longer supply domestic demand, domestic makers say. via Hugh Hewitt

Why does our government allow these imports. This is the non value of politicians, they do not look after Americans. It's called foreign policy, just like NAFTA has cost us thousands of jobs, this costs jobs and farms.

I think it't about time we stop paying farmers not to grow and tell them please grow our own wheat. Thank-you
