Who is coaching now? Is Bev Stull still coaching? She always had her faves.

Yes she is. She still does have her favorites. 4 have quit already this season due to her coaching abilities. You would think they would get the hint.

My daughters who love to play and are good, not the best, but have the ability and I hate to see it go to waste refuse to play for her. They wouldnt even go out for the team. If enough parents and players would get together and get with the athletic director they could get her out of that position. She has been there since 1994. We get rid of basketball and football coaches left and right, what is so special about her? I think they are afraid of a lawsuit becuasue she is gay. Well its definatetly not becuase she is gay! I just think her time is up. We need to take a stand and start a petition around town to get a new coach with fresh ideas in there for these girls!

It is the coaching. She does not know how to coach at all. Lets put 14 girls on a team, and have 5 sit the bench every game. not to mention the same 5. She tells the girls they have to earn their spot, well how are they suppose to do that when they don't get to play or have their time to shine. Not to mention, the 5 girls that sat the bench every game, also did nothing but run the bases at practice for her starting line up to field. 4 out of those 5 girls have quit already. Does that not open anyone's eyes at all. She is splitting up girls that have been playing together since they were 7, its just not right!

My daughters played basketball and softball with her coaching. Couldn't stand her. She was so smug and acted like she could do no wrong. And benching them until they quit is what she does. I never figured out how she had lasted so long.

I believe it is the coach. The last 2 years the JV team had an 11 and 2 record. All of that team moved up to varsity except 1, but only a select few got to play while the others sat the bench. These girls have played together and won many tourneys on a travel team in their earlier years. Now they sit the bench. I say play the JV team and let them win. But as previously said 4 of the girls have quit; yes you guessed it they were from last years JV team. I DON'T blame them I would quit too, who wants to be a benchwarmer and be a part of a losing team! Just remember it is Rushville we play the name game not by talent!

She's been here way to long. If you went and watched the games you could telll she really doesn't care to be there. If you see somethong the other team is doing, yoy don't just stand there and ignore it. You tell your team so they realize it. Seriously shr needs to hit the high road. Starting with 14 losing 4 and my guess the rest of the team would love to quit rigjt along side of them if it weren't for their parents

I refused to play my junior/senior year because of her. They have had so many people quit that they don't know if they can play Saturday!

Same exact situation for me as well and I graduated in 2002. So, this has been an on going problem for far too long!

she is just an awful coach. As today she has had 5 players quit her team. Does that not mean anything to her. At practice's the team runs for their mistakes, you think that you would try too fix what you are doing wrong. she has no one to blame but herself. I didn't know you had to kiss a coaches butt to play in a sport.

There is a need for a lot of changes, that's a fact. However, all of the girls need to give 110% at all times. (Practices included) . As a rule, you dont let any coach take the game away from you. They need to make the difference. . It's not always the name game, either. The girls must put forth the effort. If they don't care about how they play or if they play, guess what, it shows on the field.

Running for practice errors, running for getting locked out of the gymnasium where your glove is in your locker on a Saturday morning practice, running is only going to exhaust the player and cause frustration towards the coach.

Have the girls practice what they are doing wrong over and over then they will get frustrated with themselves for not getting it.

I haven't been to a softball game all year, but I will gurantee that most of the problems related to the softball team are not coach related. What have these kids done in the off season to get better on their own? How many of them are in the weight room getting stronger? How many of them are doing cardiovascular training 3-4 times per week to be in better shape? How many of YOU KNOW IT ALL PARENTS have hit thousands of ground balls and thrown thousands of pitches to your daughter in the off-season? These are the things it takes to be good players and have. Great team! A very intelligent person once said you can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit!the bigger mistake coach probably made was keeping too much dead weight on the team to try to have two teams! My advice to her is going forward, only keep he kids that put in the work and really want to play.
As for running for not having your glove or running for committing mental and physical errors.....try looking up the word accountability in the dictionary and teaching your kids about it....
As for quitting, that is the Most Selfish thing there is.... At tht point, it isn't about the team, but hey addition by subtraction works also!
Here's to Bev, Aaron, Wink, and Bob...... I hope my daughter gets the opportunity to play for you in. Few years!

Practice hard, play hard, effort, accountability, respect , play to win. . High school sports is not about equal play. You have to earn your spot. reward those that work hard. It's a team effort to win a team game.

Don't know what planet you live on but having lived here my whole life, I know it is the name game. Earn your spot on the team? I know one girl who had a broken foot that didn't even try out but was in the team. They always have their favorites. And selfish? High school sports aren't cheap! Why pay the $100-$150 for all the stuff to play when you are going to sit the bench?

Aif you quit, I'd ou not already pay the 100-150 for all the stuff? Because being ortbof a team is a life skill everyone should learn. And, no matter what role thy have, being part of a team is a big deal.

I'm sure kid with broken foot had no skill and was just given a spot....if your daughter had been cut because she was hurt, you would have raised a fit!

Accountability...needs to be equal to the mistake made or the effect of the " punishment" is not effective..
..example:1: keep missing ground balls when playing shoe stop should to equal laps around the out field...it should be you do not leave this field until you can get this right and if you don't get it right then you don't play.

Example 2: many of us leave our gear in locker room every night after practice for the next day practice...one Saturday morning custodians did not leave the door unlocked. A few of us arrive to practice ten minutes late so we run 10 laps. Not quite accountability. Lesson learned, yes indeed. We will not leave our gear overnight for Saturday practice ever again in case a custodian does not unlock the doors again.

Next, off season?? We live in a rural, impoverished Indiana community...weather is inclement and not many players can afford the off season extras. I agree they should be doing as much as they can to stay healthy, but the school gym is taken by the football players in the fall and baseball players in the spring. Softball practices begin in late January, early February, 6 days a week. That is quite a bit of training for a softball team at this level.

Obviously if girls are quitting in this amount, something has to be wrong! These girls can not "earn a spot" because there honestly isn't an opportunity. Either you're a favorite from the start or you aren't liked. During practices, the ones who aren't favorites have to be base runners the whole practice. If the girl gets a chance, which is rare, they better do perfect or they'll be running! Every girl deserves to be looked at the same. It shouldn't be based on if they play basketball or what else they do. Every single one of them just wants a coach to see them as a part of the Lady Lion team, not just a part of the bench.
