It is no wonder no one shops downtown. The snow is so deep you can't get from the street to the sidewalk in most places. Why would anyone try to climb a snow bank when you can go to WalMart and walk on almost dry pavement all the way to the door. Radio Shack has 2 small places to get from the street to the sidewalk, but goodluck any place else.

It is embarrassing to see the big snow humps along main street. All the other towns I have been to have neatly cleared away all the snow from all the important areas, such as sidewalks and storefronts. How is anyone supposed to get over those dirty snow mounds to get into any stores on main?

Rushville is a farm town always will be. I've seen back in the 60s Rushville was hopping and equal to other towns. Rushville has no hope but to be a poor town for non farmers.

Strange, I was just in Indy and had to climb over snow piles to get from my car to the sidewalk in front of Circle Center, Bankers Life and Embassy Suites.

FYI, few cities clear curb snow. It is not cost effective and is the responsibility of the shop owners just as it is the residents to clear the snow from their sidewalks.

I just was in Shelbyville and they have not even cleared the suicide lane on Progress Pkwy. It truly is a suicide lane when you are turning from there as you have no traction and it is frozen, bumpy slush. Worse, as the snow in the center lanes melts, it runs across the drive lane. At night it melts and creates black ice that has already caused a couple of accidents including one right in front of their new fire station.

Spent New Years day in New Castle and some of their side streets have not seen a plow. They are deeply rutted snow tracks. The car in front of me had to try to parallel park at speed and ended up sideswiping a speed limit sign. Their Mayor said it is not their job to clear side streets. City of Indy had that same attitude until Ballard came to office and said they will clear side roads when more than 6" of snow hits.

Rushville had all snow routes cleared the morning after the "blizzard" while picking up most of the trash route. Most side streets were plowed by that evening and most alleys were completed by the day after. I know of no other town around here that plows alleys even though many residents depend on them for parking.

Rushville did an amazing job clearing snow. Much better than the neighboring towns I have been to. The best part is the citizens know this is the truth. Sorry haters, your lies are not working.

Sorry Pavey-Apologist, you're dead wrong.
Rushville did a POOR job at clearing. The downtown was a mess. Yes, you could drive, and that's about all I can say. It was a MESS.
Henry County did a tremendous job. I was there. Apparently you didn't put your contacts in when you were there. The difference between Rush County and Henry County was stark. As soon as you got to Dunreith, the roads were suddenly and mysteriously beautiful. Henry County put us to shame. But then, you already knew that.

It's true! Same ole azz suckers are getting the ot and it is a well known fact that Tom Paul is an azz kissing fool that should have been fired long ago for his actions in public. A pitiful example and representative for this city.

So as was stated above, how pathetic of an employee are you that you get on Topix and throw a fellow employee under the bus? I know a few of the guys up at the Garage, and I am guessing I know who this disgruntled employee is. The same one that has complained about the last 3 administrations. You tell everyone how terrible things are up there, then try to whine under some silly name on topix.

karaoke, Dunreith is on two state roads. there are no county roads in Dunreith. Henry County may have done a good job. never put foot on Henry County roads. but I was through downtown New Castle two days after the blizzard and the streets around the courthouse were ice covered. the sidewalks had snow piled on them.

just drove the through Shelbyville. snow piled between the curb and street in front of Linnes and the City piled so much snow from the square parking you could not go from there to 18 on the Square. ice still in the suicide lane on Progress Blvd, even in front of the new fire station.

read on the City website they are restricting parking downtown overnight to clear the sidewalks. I wonder if your friend will get his overtime in.

If i owned a downtown business i would hire someone if i had to to get the snow removed from in front of my business so my customers could get in. They want you to shop downtown, but you cannot even get across the snow piles. Maybe the Chamber should figure out how to do this instead of just worry about Parades in the summer. It seems that about all they really do anyway, except collect dues from member businesses and brag about how good they are.

Snow bound you forgot about Christmas on Main among many other events they do.

I drove through town this morning and there were several City trucks, backhoe and front end loader clearing snow off of the sidewalks.

I wonder if Karazee's buddy got his ot. I have to laugh that he is upset that good employees are chosen for ot while lazy employees like his buddy is lucky to have a job. They need to fire the worthless ones like his friend.

FYI, Progress Pkwy still has 6" ice piles in the middle and Linnes still has 3' snow piles in front. 18 on the Square owner is going to City Council meeting to complain since he was told to pound sand by the street department about getting 6' snow piles removed from between him and the parking on the square.

I have not been up to New Castle in a while, but guessing that they still have snow piles.

Jemmy and his boys did and are doing a great job on snow removal. Oh and Dunreith still does not have any county roads in town.
