I will second the posts by JAS and be positive.

More times than not, you can tell the honest and legitimate posters simply by the way they compose a comment.

Good luck.

I moved here from Miami, Florida three years ago and I love it. The pace is a little slower than I'm used to but it is a very nice place to work and live.

Wow, with friendly posts like these, who WOULDN'T want to move to Bellefontaine?

In comparison to other small cities in the area (of comparable size); Bellefontaine is leaps and bounds a better place to work, live and raise a family.

For the school system being as large as it is, it scores very well and is actually one of the better "city" schools around.

Most people around here are friendly and warm and care for each other. There are a few bad seeds, but the Bellefontaine and Logan County Sheriff's Office have done a phenomenal job over the last 2-3 years of cleaning up the issues (5 years ago they swept them under the rug). You don't feel unsafe in this city, ever really. Yes, the Northwest part of town has a bad reputation, but there are good people over there too.

The city has a great park district, YMCA and plenty of activities for families who want to be involved in their community.

Most people in Bellefontaine are hard working and care for the things they have.

It's not Mayberry, but no city is. Most of us would welcome you to our city with open arms. Best of luck in your move and search for a new home.

It's sad to see so many comments about the bad and ugly of Bellefontaine. These people should move away if they are so unhappy. I've lived in columbus and other areas larger than what Logan County has to offer. I find this area to be mostly safe and clean with plenty of employment opportunities for those willing to work for a living. It seems our biggest problem is the high number of residents that feel work is beneath them. I'm guessing many of them spend plenty of time on topix. The community I know, welcomes new residents in a neighborly way. Including the bums that don't really want to work on anything more than complaining. That's probably why they still live here!

ok...i didnt say everyone is poor. i used to poor until i got the hell out of logan county and started making REAL money. for a young family with no assets and living paycheck to paycheck, its tough to get ahead around here. places in logan county pay just enough to keep you coming to work everyday. if that's what your dreams are, then its ok. if you want to make real money, then its not a good place to live. i dont know how they did it, but my parents grew up in this area and they turned out to be successful.(different times, i guess) so there it is. is that laid out for you plain enough?

yes Bellefontaine has its good, bad and ugly.. just like any other town in the world.. it is NOT full of bad cops, prostitutes and a junkie on every corner.. its not upscale.. but we realize the downfalls and productive citizens are doing what we cn to improve it.. Are you focusing on B-Town or are you just looking at locality in Logan County? there are some nice little towns and villages .. the rural area is rather beautiful.. lots of history .. If you look into the history of Ohio you would know the names of Blue Jacket and Simon Kenton.. both walked the land in this area.. we have the shortest street, the first concrete street.. a pinapple fountian that has amusing speculations about it.. 2 small "castles", Madriver Mountain for winter fun, Indian lake for summer fun.. we are within an hours drive to Columbus for excellent dining, shopping and entertainment. a few hours drive north or south to amusment parks (Cedar point or Kings Island) lake Erie and Put-in Bay.. a river boat gambling casino, etc.. We are a semi rural community.. lots of great people trying to make it better.. and as you can see several people who just want to sit at home and complain.. but you have that everywhere.. we would love to have you and your family join us and help make this a better place

Best advice.....stay as far away from Bellefontaine as possible. Heroin has all but taken over. Every time the task force busts one dealer, 5 more pop up. The crime rate has to be sky high by now. I moved. Best thing I ever did for me or my kids.
