My family and I are considering moving to bellefontine from out of state. I've read site and all but would like to get opinions on schools, neighborhoods, ect from people who actually live in the area. Also any websites or know of anyone doing rent to own homes would be much appreciated. Thank you.

I moved here, and it was a mistake. It is ghetto and multiple people say it's a heroin town.

To be honest look into Marysville if possible, better resturants, stores, schools, roads get cleared after it snows.. Bellefontaine really doesn't have much to offer except unemployment and drugs...

Notice the above poster lives in Marysville- Unfortunately this isn't always the best place to get a balanced view. Bellefontaine has its pros and cons like many other places. Has beautiful areas to live and run down areas- no place is really unsafe but the westside of town especially has some rundown druggie areas. Actually the employment picture is pretty good, especially if you are have a good work ethic and don't mind factory jobs. For office type work you may want to look closer to Columbus like Marysille, which has more newer areas to live in (although usually more expensive) and nice school buildings but the schools have MAJOR budget issues right now. Marysville has more restaurants but shopping isn't much different (except for Best Buy), although Marysville is just 20 minutes from Columbus area shopping. I have lived in large cities and enjoy that Bellefontaine has lots of rural areas around it and close proximity to Indian Lake but still is within 45-60 minutes from about anything in Columbus. If you like the Bellefontaine area but don't mind living in a smaller town with excellent schools try West Liberty just 7 miles south of Btown.

Btown sucks! Seriously. Only move here if you absolutely have to. There's heroin on every corner, dirty cops, more rapists and child molesters than you can even imagine and the schools are terrible.
But hey

Don South lives on the west side. Don is the ex mayor and the person responsible for bringing Honda to Ohio!!

Btown is so f-up that churches from out of state relocate here. Lots of dirty heroine and all of the women have genital warts. All the pretty girls have babies while they are still in high school.

The school sucks and the teams suck too. There is a huge teaparty group funded mostly by the social security administration.

Smart people leave bellefontaine and the dumb ones stay and reproduce little welfare babies.

If you have any questions please ask.

I was born here and will most likely die an old age here. Yes, Bellefontaine has it good and bad. The bad has been discussed with it's child molesters, drugs, etc.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else! Columbus or suburbs may sound inviting but the problems we have here, they have there.
Dirty cops? I know someone who has a young daughter, roughly 19 yrs old. She got pregnant by a 50 some year old married with grown children. And that is a Columbus cop!
I like the rural setting. I dread having to drive to Cbus. I like my slow town. Cbus isnt more than an hour away. Close enough if need be.

Bellefontaine is a good, small town. For the most part, anywhere one lives is what they make of it. If you're a drug dealer, you'll seek those of your ilk and just like anywhere else, find them. If you're religious, you will find those of that ilk in Bellefontaine.

If you have children you want schooled, you will be able to get a quality education for your children especially if you participate in their education, make sure they attend school and make sure they understand their homework and turn in their lessons.

The Bellefontaine area has many places to get a job. Your remuneration will depend on your skillset and how it fits with the available jobs and your ability to negotiate your pay and benefits.

The Bellefontaine area is rife with early American history and has a good resource with the Logan County Historical Society. You would also be ideally located within an hour's drive to Lima, Springfield, Dayton, Columbus, Delaware, etc. for shopping and entertainment venues. Should you decide to move to Bellefontaine, welcome and, much success with your move.

Drugs and religious cults are never mentioned when someone asks about upper Arlington...

Btown is a horrible place to live and the only reason you would move to logan county is because Honda is requiring it.

All you have to do is read the examiner.

The OP is asking about rent to own properties, I highly doubt they are trying to decide between Bellefontaine and Upper Arlington!

I love Bellefontaine. Yes, it has bad things that happen here, just as every other community in the US. Even Upper Arlington. But overall I believe we have a wonderful community here, if you are willing to look for the best in people instead of judging the whole community based on the Police Beat in the local paper.

Really you need to spend a little time in bellefontaine and it wont take long to find out that if you want anything besides dope you have to leave town to get it...

Don South brought Honda to Ohio. is that the story he tells or u being sarcastic....LOL... always thought Jim Rhoades and Hilliker brought them here.. If Don did why didn't build closer to Bellefontaine and he sure didn't profit off the sell of the land like Rhoades and Hilliker did..Don may have brought them here in his mind but he's prbably got Dementia by now...

It's not that they can't afford a house. It is THE HOUSE itself.... Do some research on the house....
