How is this possible? The law says no guns are allowed in Chicago but 5 dead in one day

At least 5 die in Chicago shootings
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-57566039/...

Authorities are investigating the shooting deaths of five people in a single day of bloodshed in Chicago.

Police Officer Daniel O'Brien says Saturday's first killing occurred at around 2:15 a.m. on the city's west side when a gunman opened fire on two men who were sitting in a parked car, killing one and wounding the other.

Investigators say a few hours later, someone opened fire on three men near a South Side eatery, killing two of them and wounding the third.

Detectives were called to the scene of another shooting Saturday afternoon in which a man in his 30s and a teenager were shot to death. There had been no arrests.

Chicago's homicide count eclipsed 500 last year for the first time since 2008.

Wouldn't you better serve humanity by helping children learn to read or to do volunteer work at a nursing home? When you leave this world what will be your legacy, I made sure everyone had a gun?

The liberals don't want to hear things like that, it disproves the whole gun control idea.

Excuse me, why didn't our police and the military prevent these five Chicago killings? Isn't that why we have them?

The same people who were responsible for taking the guns out of Chicago are the same ones who raised tax's and cut police and fire departments. Sounds reasonable right?

A lot of people really enjoy hurting others. Are you among them?

Rise above. Be better than most. Teach your children to love and not to hate.

Enjoy the blessings the LORD has given to you and be tolerant of others as Jesus was during His brief stay on Earth.

Each one of us can make the world a better place. Do you care? Or does your heart only stir when events touch upon you personally?

No person (not even The Oracle) is always correct. Open yourself up to the very real possibility that you are wrong. We all often are.

Thank you.

What would truly serve humanity would be if your hard drive burned up:)

The sellers of guns moved to the outskirts of Chicago where the law was not applicable.

Are you saying people should have to apply for an interal passport to cross city or county lines? That would stop such trafficing in a heart beat. Criminals take the law seriously. Smart legislation can solve justy about any problem.

Are you serious? To do nothing is irresponsible , to ridicule those who want positive change makes your light look very dim.

No - to do something that makes no sense is irresponsible. It has been said many times on here and thoroughly documented that banning assault weapons accomplished nothing when it was in effect the last time and yet the response - ban assault weapons - why? Because they look scary? It has been suggested that deterrence with in schools would help. There is little if any question that deterrence is used effective to protect others including the President, famous people, etc and what do we hear? More guns aren't the answer. It is said that high capacity clips need be banned. While I would agree that barrell clips such as the shooter in AZ had should be banned but when it is pointed out that clips are quickly and easily changed and considering the amount of ammo the kid in Newtown had, be it 10 clip or 30, it would have made little difference as you just pop out one clip and insert another an a matter of 2-3 seconds. The answer - forget all that, ban the clips. The problem is the "positive change" lacks logic, lacks proof of accomplishing anything - its only a placebo for the mind of those who feel they must "do something".

Finally, for all this "positive change" you anti guns folks only seem to mention the mental health issues in passing which is the true culpert. If you were anywhere near as passionate about helping these folks and preventing them from getting guns then perhaps we could build a consensus; but, all the left wants to do now is go after guns for no particular reason other than to make themselves feel like they've done something - in the meantime, as noted by a number of folks there will still be 300 million guns out there. Start making sense and maybe people will listen

Thud, wanting military style assault weapons and high capacity clips taken off the market ... or at least, harder to acquire, hardly makes anyone "anti-gun!" Read Obama's initiatives for reducing Gun violence!#4 is increasing mental health services. It was the Republican controlled congress that cut funding on mental health services to begin with!!!!

After that big line of political spin you accuse others of not making sense?
It's difficult to have an honest debate with someone who thinks he has all of the answers.
This is not about politics, it's about making our streets safer. We can not do this without action, everything that we ever hope to accomplish requiers action, you can not do anything with out it.
You get up, action, you go to the bathroom, action, to go to work, action, you eat, action. If you ever hope to make things better, action. According to your way of thinking we should sit on our butts and do nothing. I don't imagine you've accomplished much in your life with that attitude.

So, you want to talk the effects of mental illness associated with gun crime?
Let's start with the paranoid delusion that your handgun is going to help you rise up against a tyrannical government.

The fact that in the last decade 90% of mass shootings were committed by people who were prescribed SSRI's at some point in their life says its not a gun problem, it's a people problem.

How did they get a hold of these guns? To your lame ass analogy" its not a gun problem, it's a people problem" This entire world is a people problem.
