Employers can hire whomever they like. It's their business and it's their decision.

Seems strange an atheists would want to work for a christian store. Perhaps it would be odd in helping people find items & information if a salesperson doesnt believe in what their selling. A christian store is a speciality store, so it makes perfect sense for an employee to believe in God. After all, items in the store teach of God.

They are not allowed to discriminate based on religion. It is against the law for any employer to discriminate against an employee or potential employee.

Most don't identify with or respect the groups we work for, we just do what they tell us in exchange for money.
This compromise in our integrity feels bad, but we do what we must in order to survive. It is unethical.

That is very true, but it would be easy to say that are not qualified for the job. It would be hard to prove otherwise. In most cases if an atheist applied to work at a Christian store odds are it would create a hostile work environment as well, not always.

No Religion promotes molesting Children, not even the Catholics.
Child molesters either do not believe in God or are ok with Hell.
People who do not believe in God are called Atheists.
Most child molesters are therefore Atheists.

I don't want to have to work with them.

"I'm sorry potential customer, I'm not sure where that's at or what you're really talking about. I just work here."

That works. Hire people who don't have a clue and don't care. It's called standards.

EOE means everyone gets an EQUAL OPPORTUNITY to be EMPLOYed there. If you show up wearing your BBQ stained NASCAR shirt, ripped jeans and your Budweiser hat to an interview (for a job that is 90% in the public eye) the employer has to give you a fair shake, but they don't have to hire you.

You have to put forth effort. Everyone will always prejudge you, that why you never get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression. Make it count. A professed atheist would only apply for a job at a christian store as a joke.

Professed Atheist?
The interviewers ask you which Church you and your family members belong to, and ask the question "Are you Atheist?"
I should lie and pretend to be willing to murder my own child like Abraham just to get a job?

I would say that ALL child molesters are Atheists.

No, Christianity does not encourage child abuse, those "Christians" who do that either do not actually believe in God, and are closeted Atheists, or don't care about Hell, because they don't actually believe in God, because they are closeted Atheists!
Name one Religion that encourages child abuse!
You can't do it because ALL molesters are Godless Atheists!
If you want to protect your child, teach them to fear and hate Atheists!
If you want to get rid of all perverts, it is as simple as getting rid of all the Atheists!
If you want to get rid of terrorists, it is as simple as getting rid of all the Muslims!

Funny, it seems that the highest concentration of pedos is found in the catholic church. Granted, an unknown number of the complaints and cases is probably false,(best guess is around 10%, as that is the percentage that could not be 'verified') in attempts to secure hush money, but statistically you cannot ignore an institution that has recieved THOUSANDS of lawsuits in the last 50 years directed at clergy, an institution that has repeatedly been shown to protect the priests who are accused, and ferry them around from parish to parish to give them a fresh crop of victims who don't know their history, an institution who has paid 2.6 billion dollars to suit-holders since 1950...
Some of you have claimed that all molesters are atheists, if so, why does the vatican protect them? Do you think that the Holy See could have the wool pulled over it's eyes so fully? Moreover, Atheists are quite often vocal opponents of religion, it is not fitting character to climb the ladder, toe the line, and pretend to be a man of the cloth for 40 years or more just on the off chance that they might get embroiled in a child molestation suit to what, sully the image of the Church? The odds of that being a plan are probably similar to the odds of closing your eyes and picking one grain of sand painted silver off of a beach, while the odds of it being a successful plan are more like standing on your front porch and grabbing the same grain of sand, from the same beach. I could suggest plenty of research reading to you, but you are likely incapable of viewing the facts with unclouded judgement.

I think that most employers are mandated not to discriminate against an applicant over their religion (age, sexual preference, etc). That does not mean it does not happen. Employers often ask questions in an interview that are not legal for them to ask. An applicant always has the right to decline to answer. It would be hard to prove that an applicant did not get a job because of his/her religious beliefs, but if an employer asked those kinds of questions in an interview and an applicant did not get the job and then filed a suit, the employer might have a difficult time defending his/her decision to not hire the person who has filed the suit. But then, unless the applicant has proof that the employer asked such questions, it would be a case of one's word against the other. So that would complicate the case as well.

I think that it might be odd for an atheist to apply at a Christian bookstore, but I don't think that being an atheist would make it impossible for him/her to work there. The job would require the atheist to know where things were in the store and to help customers find what they wanted. There would be no requirement to believe what they were selling, just a need to know where things were and to have good customer service skills. Just because someone is atheist does not mean they could not meet the requirements to work anywhere. And if you need a job and that is what is available, sometimes you just do what you have to do.

Do you have statistics to back up that claim or are you just talking out your arse?
