How can anyone judge this as "disagree" This situation is heartbreaking.This is one of the only forums on this site to actually filled with truth instead of lies.I wish all the miners luck.
wtf how mean wrote:
can you belive they had the balls to lay off an underground miner that has cancer and has been with the company for over 6 years?!! come on,can they get anymore heartless. they even layed off men that have been there for seceral years and instead kept the young smartass*d punks and men that have failed drug tests,over good workers that have no drug or attitude problems. alot of the men they kept are the ones who hide piss bags on them and use them to pass the drug tests and this is very well known. i can't belive this company is so ruthless and creul. and mr. turley "the big christian" man really needs to re-access some of these layoffs. and look at the history of some of the workers his bosses decided to keep. lets layoff men that have a family and children to support but keep the ones that spend their money on beer and pills that don't even have a family to take care*** nice philosphy wv mine power i hope your dreams are haunted at night.

This is so true,anyone who has ever worked there knows how true this is.But I quess it goes on at every job.If people really want to reach put and try to help these men I suggest calling the WV Mine Power office or the other office on rockcliff road,but other than that a bit*h session is really all we can do.

I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH THESE POSTS.#1 WV MINE POWER DOES SUCK! 2.YES SOME OF THE BOSSES AND WORKERS DO CARRY [email protected] BAGS TO USE INCASE THEY HAVE TO DO A [email protected] TEST 3.YES IT NEEDS TO GO UNION 4.IF THE MEN TRY TO VOTE UNION THE MINES WILL SHUT DOWN. 5.KARMA NEEDS TO COME BACK 10 FOLD TO THESE PEOPLE WHO MADE THE CHOICES OF WHO TO LAY OFF,THEN IT GETS EVEN WORSE ONCE I LEARNED THAT THEY DID INDEED LAY OFF A MAN WITH CANCER AND AT LEAST 4 OF THE OLDER MINERS WHO WORKED THEIR [email protected] OFF AND HAD BEEN THERE SINCE SHORTLY AFTER THE MINES OPENED. THESE MEN ALL HAVE FAMILIES TO TAKE CARE BUT [email protected] LIKE JAMES EDEN,JAMES AKERS,AND SHIFT BOSSES DECIDES WHO GETS LAYED OFF ITS BULLSHIT THEY ARE A FEW OF THE BIGGEST [email protected] THEY HAVE HIRED AT THAT PLACE. THEY DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT ANYONE EXCEPT THEMSEVES. AND WHOS [email protected] THEY CAN SUCK HARD ENOUGH TO GET THEIR WAY.I WORKED THERE FOR ABOUT 3 YEARS THEN GOT MARRIED AND MOVED. BUT WHEN MY COUSIN CALLED AND TOLD ME ABOUT THE LAYOFF AND SOME OF THE GUYS THAT GOT LAYED OFF I ABOUT [email protected] DOWN MY LEG. THE OLDER GUYS ARE SOME OF THE BEST MEN I WORKED WITH WHILE THERE.THEY ARE DEPENDABLE HARDWORKING MEN WHO DON'T CAUSE TROUBLE OR WALK AROUND PLAYING THE [email protected] HERE TO MARK MY TERRITORY GAME. I HOPE LIKE [email protected] THEY FIND OUT QUICKLIY WHAT A MISTAKE THEY MADE IN LAYING OFF THE GOOD GUYS AND I HOPE THE LESSON IS HARD LEARNED. I UNDERSTAND THAT THE NEED TO LAY OFF MAY HAVE BEEN REAL BUT TO KNOW THEY KEPT MEN WITH DRUG AND ALCOHOL PROBLEMS ,MEN WHO MISS WORK ALOT, AND MEN WHO ONLY HAVE A YEAR OR TWO EXPERIENCE UNDERGROUND AND NO FAMILY AT HOME TO CARE FOR;PROVES THAT THEY ARE [email protected] WHO NEED TO BE [email protected] SLAP A FEW TIMES AND HAVE THE PUNKS PULLED FROM THEIR [email protected] LONG ENOUGH SO THEY CAN THINK STRAIGHT. I WISH THERE WAS SOMETHING OTHER THAN [email protected] COULD BE DONE TO HELP THE ONES THAT DIDN'T DESERVE TO GET LAYED OFF BUT THERE'S NOT SO HERE WAS MY [email protected] SESSION.

Why don't they get rid of some of the stuck up and rude office workers?They have got to be some of the rudest bunch of women I have ever talked to at an office.The chances of finding an office job is higher than a miner finding one and besides the office workers could probably live better off of the 424.00 a week than the the miners.But the fact that this company has obvisiously didn't choose fairly as to who to lay off and then the BIG one is the fact one of them has cancer is beyond cruel.So I too hope karma comes back 10 fold to the ones responsible for making the choice of laying off the men with families and/or health issues and drug problems.

"kept several with drug problems" is what I meant to type. Also they kept men that has only been with the company for a very short amount of time.All this together proves what a horrible company this is to work for;hard work and time at the company means nothing to these people.

guys...let me tell you something. this is a normal thing for joe turley and his buddies. many years ago. i think it was 1985, jt did a big layoff. lots of coal miners were without jobs, no way to provide for their families and that sorry piece of crap hired people who would work for less and gave them the original mens jobs. he declares bankruptcy every time you turn around and puts his mines either in someone elses name and/or changes the name of the mines. he has always treated his workers like he owns them. if he ever gives you a turkey/ham at the holidays, he acts like he's really doing something special for you. take it from me,men. he's only out to get his filthy pockets full and all his cronies too..but one day..he will pay..the worry he caused that in turn caused men's hearts to fail, men suffering nervous breakdowns and just like the man he layed off with cancer...he might think hes prospering but he isn't dead yet..."Venegence is mine saith the Lord".

its coal mining boys how many years has this stuff went on people are praising him when times are good and cussing him when times are bad. You would think after years of this stuff going on ppl would make the money while they can put some money back instead of running down the road buying 40 and 50k trucks so when the layoff happens the banks aren't coming to the housing gathering all the stuff up they can't pay for. I understand coal mining is a way of life in these parts and everyone can't get an education but it doesn't take much of an education to realize that the money isn't going to last forever and you never know from one day to the next wether you will have a job or not so why go out and live way above your means?

set the damn weeks like Massie/Alpha does. Makes it easier on the company and US the employees to plan OUR vacations. Do you the 'bosses' and lady employees get your days when YOU wanna take your vacation or use a few days you have EARNED???
So lets go to set holiday weeks off.
Keep the lights on and let us stay safe.

<quoted text>
Coal mining is a business they are not gonna keep throwing money at something if they are not getting any return. That is simple economics it doesn't matter how good or bad of guy Joe Turley is. It is about the money I guarantee that Joe Turley and Johnny Plaster don't loose a wink of sleep to night because you are on here talking about how inconsiderate they are. You may want to thank them for the last several years of employment that has been close to home with good pay.
