We all need to Respect mother earth here. Coal is not a renewable product. We can mine coal and use coal for years to come. However trees are another thing. Look at how they tear down our forrest. Take all these small trees compared to big timber. Most of these companies goes after the fastest and easiest. Where we need to do something about that. Greenbrier county known for its greenbrier thickets. Look at where these loggers clearcuts. 10 years later no trees has begun to grow. Mabe a few saplings. But look why they do not turn into big trees were accustomed to. Greenbrier thickets lover the open area of our clearcutting. Be respectful take a few trees out of large areas instead of everything in a small area. Your grandkids will thank you when their kids can admire our livelyhood of protecting the forrest. Need to start today not tomorrow on that.

TO WESTERN SLANGER -
Selective harvests remove the best tress from a stand thereby degrading future quality of timber and wildlife. Clearcutting allows species to regenerate uniformly so you dont have an entire poplar forest. Ok lets take this by points
TO THE ORIGINAL POSTER -
Point 1 - Bamboo does not hav e afruiting body sililar to a cherry an acorn a sumara or other seed. Yes it does grow quickly ... so quickly that it would out compete our native species where it is able to take hold (keep in mind it is a tropical plant requiring a high amount of water and good temperatures for growth)
Point 2 - Because the windmills are not a solid body they are not going to pick up a swinging arm flying through the air. you can find plenty of literature of mortaility rates of winged creatures near windfarms.(research please) As an aside, I honestly do not care about this portion.
Still in point two. Secondly, windmills could never replace the power generated by ANY major form of electrical generation today. If you must have a GREEN solution fight for natural gas not something TOTALLY inconceiveable like WINDMILLS LOL.
POINT 3 - Open your mind to non mainstream media and you would see there is no EVIDENCE that man has contributed to global climate change. Therefore, your argument about clean coal is moot.
POINT 4 - Mountain top removal. As with any form of major resource extraction, dramatic changes are made to forest habitat. This creates biodiversity within a forest. This is also a healthy change. you may not like it but I ask that you please do more extensive research before formulating your opinions and speaking them out in such ignorant ways in public.
SIGH... only in GBR COUNTY

First things first, as far as I know Bamboo does no grow in WV. Wind farms such as the ones on Cold Knob I honestly see it as a wounder because there has always been talk about putting them up there for at least 35 years. But yea no wind = NO POWER. And as clean coal yea coal is not a clean energy but as of right now thats what we have to power this nation and we do have plenty of it. Mountop Removal is one thing most hate to see rivers and streams become contaminated for years to come even underground mining can cause that. Ever go up little or big clear and not catch minnows? Years ago they were plentyful. Natural gas fracking is another hot topic. which is scarry as to what they call clean energy right under out feet. It is providing it dont contaminate out ground water. I dont care what these companies tell you its safe to drill and blow them out by fracking them which meaning pumping hydralic fluid underground under an immence pressure thus cracking the rocks to release the gas. To prove my point. Ever hear of DISH texas, Dish was named after the TV satellite company made there home there. http://www.texastribune.org/texas-environment... Did you know the town has practically become unlivable because of fracking, gas seeping into ground water where you can light your water on fire? I dont think thats safe at all. But I urge you to check that out.

I refuse to be engaged in a battle of wits with an unarmed person. Read the sign next time you drive by or the inside of a box of envelopes. Even some beer boxes are made by the meadwestvaco corporation.....have a nice day.

Your an idiot. you don't have to replant trees. Trees grow from seeds and stump sprouts. Look at any clear cut in a few years and there are thousands of young trees growing. Natural selection weeds out the weak trees and the dominant trees grow to maturity. Yes it takes several years for them to grow but westvaco owns the land. No ones coming to your house telling you how to take care of your house and property. Dont like logging try wiping with plastic.

Your ass dumb as the last guy. There is a state organization called the division of forestry that monitrs every single log job in the state. There are laws in place that every logger has to abide by. If not followed jobs will be shut down. MWV amd loggers are folling laws set by state government. Try calling your law makers orr a hippie. Suck It
