Who is paying the attorney fees for the recalled members? Is this coming out of our schools budget?

"sufficient facts presented by the petitioner to warrant the recall effort."
And just what are the facts in this case?

I am so tired of all this hatefulness! Just ridiculous. I have had several school teachers in our schools tell me Ruidoso School System is the worst. I have read statistics showing how very bad that we are. This is crazy. Mrs. Harris obviously violated rules...how is it that she cannot be held accountable?

How can Rhonda Vincent and Kerry Gladden continue to defend the Ruidoso School Superintendent from a failing school district? One of the worst in the state. Is it because they are part of the problem and not part of the solution?

I think this story is about the illegal and criminal conduct of the board members that held private quorums and paid their attorney with embezzled funds. I mean that is what Judge Ritter was talking about.
I believe it's about Dr. Harris' mismanagement of funds and failure to perform her job duties. As a parent of a child in the school system, I was glad to hear that she'd been placed on administrative leave. I was only saddened she was not terminated.

After all this drama how could Bea Harris even want to stay? BTW: Michael, do your children attend school in the Ruidoso school district? You do seem inordinately concerned with Dr. Harris and her situation.

From the story it appears that school funds were embezzled to pay for this defense even though that is a prohibited. Cuddy knew this was illegal when they took the fees from the schools to defend the individuals. They should also be prosecuted for the embezzlement.

So how is it that law agencies are able to resolve cases of this nature without stealing from the public treasury? I mean cops catch financial crooks all the time. What makes this case so unique that board members had to steal legal fees from the taxpayers rather than just call the cops?

Personally I hope the theives get a little prison time just like dime bag joe who stole from and harmed no one. People in this forum attempting to justify felonious conduct for the sake of politics are the reason government is as jacked up as it is. Your school board has no credibility while it contains criminals, now does it?

Seems the recall is for the wrong school board members. A recall petition should be started for Gladden and Vincent if this is true!

It must be true because someone stated it on the internet.

I agree with Turn About. Vincent and Gladden are part of the poor sports.....like Frank Sayner who lost to the new board members. He got the recall petition going. The people wanted new board members and they got them. Wait for the next election to throw them out if you don't like it......but, personally, I would replace Vincent and Gladden first. Now the citizens may have to pay for a special "recall" election??!! Great!

The Ruidoso School District is a total disgrace and has been for years. From the awful test scores to the low graduation rates to the Seniors who graduate with out the basic skills required to hold a minimum wage job. Not all students but too many are in this category. The good teachers get no support and the awful ones are not told to leave.

The education system is broken and the past school boards are responsible for letting it happen, including Sayner and the rest.

Yes...you are right. The Ruidoso School District, as of yesterday is rated 49th in the state...one of the worst in the state and we wonder why families with children will not move here. Some components of the district are actually receiving failing marks. Seems to me that change is needed NOW and that includes the changing of the guard on the school board. Gladden and Vincent should go now because they have contributed to the state of affairs by their tenure on this under-achieving group. And if the new elected members do not perform soon, or begin to propose change that will improve matters, then they should be replaced also. And why is the community working so hard to keep a superintendent that has not even begun to turn matters around. CEO’s that DEMAND six digit salaries should be able to produce results quickly. No, not miracles, just simple and progressive results. I would acknowledge she has been her only for a short time but where are her proposals, sweeping ideas and plans to begin to get things turned around and if she has them, why are they not being communicated to the public? Instead, the school district is paying millions in lawsuits related to its failure to oversee simple contracts and administrative processes. Our kids can simply not wait for decades to change the culture and low self esteem of the Ruidoso School District. We the residents of Ruidoso have become extremely complacent in all aspects of our lives here…most importantly in our local government and the education that our children receive. We just do not want to get involved, or be bothered and we do not seem to care anymore about anything. Which makes us an under achieving community. This apathy is more disheartening than the steady demise of Lincoln County itself.

Accountability in Ruidoso is an obscure concept. We expect our kids to be properly educated but we raise hell when the chief educator is evaluated in public. We want to be properly governed, but yet we hire and even promote the uneducated, inexperienced and unqualified individuals that are least likely to deliver results. Ruidoso has no expectations for excellence so we just tolerate mediocrity. There are a dozen or so people that run Lincoln County and like blind soldiers, we line up behind them and march to their drum. Unfortunately, anyone that bucks the status quo is ridiculed and emotionally lashed. I liken it to Syria…the masses know that change is badly needed but wealth, corrupt politics and ruthlessness makes change hard to instigate.

Fire the entire school board and the superintendent NOW. Give our school system back to the state and ask the governor to intervene to straighten out the mess. The individuals that sit on this board and the school administration have demonstrated through thier recent childish behaviors and struggles for individual power on the board that they also should be expelled from school. The RISD was given mostly F grades during its most recent evaluation. A disgraceful FACT. This evaluation was even worse than last year. The school district is a laughing stock dispite the efforts of many dedicated and under paid teachers. Given proper leadership and resources, these teachers can be successful. But for now, things are getting worse insted of better. The kids have lost.

How is it that Municipal School Board members can be recalled in the State of New Mexico, but a corrupt governing body such as the Mayor and Council of Ruidoso cannot be recalled?
And why are you people against Gladden and Vincent? From my observation, they actually stopped some monkey business AND malfeasance that allegedly happened. It appears the court sees it that way as well. Maybe some of you are personally involved in MS. Harris attempt to dismiss a District employee, but it doesn't appear that she did anything wrong, since it was not an open discussion. If the school Principal and two Board members had been scheming for over a year to "get rid" of her, it actually sounds like something Debi Lee does constantly at Village Hall. Only it doesn't take Debi Lee that long to trump up charges and have her supporters do the dirty deed.
There may be reasons for Gladden and Vincent not to be on the board, but they were voted in, to do exactly what they did. At least they had the courage to do so. As I understand it, You should be GETTING RID of Devin Marshall as it appears IS the instigator of this backroom plot.

Isn't is a little arrogant to expect the schools in a town filled with store clerks, laborers and waiters to be excellent? Schools in Vail Colorado are about the same. The gene pool of the servant class cannot support great schools.

Who cares about what Vincent and Gladden have done within the school board. What have they done for our kids? They have been the two members with the most tenue on a board that has run this school district into the ground...you do not understand, it is not about the board. It is about the kids and our kids are failing under the continued leadership of Vincent, Gladden, and Harris. They have had a role in the status of the educational standards in this district that CONTINUE ON A STEADY DECLINE. I do not care that the three of them are all friends and/or they want control of the school board. The entire board needs to go and the district needs some unbiased educators, that have no political connections, ties or asperations in Ruidoso to come manage this mess until our kids can once again obtain an adequate education here. Again, its about the kids not the damn school board. The school board works for the kids and the tax payers and not themselves.
