I quit this site because I have other things to do that are more pressing but someone really needs to fire the person who wrote this law to begin with .I hope Albq. gets the point from this ruling as well. After living thru several riots in my life it is my view that people should be allowed to vent as long as needed. As long as people are talking they are not out destroying buildings and such. I think there are lessons that other cities learned a long time ago that are lost in NM with the poor news and education here.

Another example of an "alborn-edict" shoved up the ex mayor's bum ex-post facto.

If I like the ruling or not ?Yes I knew It was wrong or I would have to return my civics merit badge. free speech is everything. If I wanted to call someone a monkey face baboon I should be able to.( Not that I would) I see a pattern going on here. First he was rebuffed on prayer now this. I don`t think the man has a very good average going.(Bryant) I thought Patrick Henry said something on the matter but I forgot how it went verbatim.

Do you suppose Attorney Bryant gives bad advice so he can charge more billable hours fighting all the village lawsuits??? And Manager Lee, the Mayor and Council are a little slow on the draw? After all, does any of the Council have more than a high school diploma. And we have already discussed how Manager Lee lied and fooled the last council about "working on her Master's Degree". Of which, the new Mayor and Council renewed her contract for another four years!
Anyone else seeing a trend?

"I certainly have a constitutional right to be critical of the court," Alborn said in his statement to the press. He also said the court's ruling lifting his free speech ban in Ruidoso was "garbage." Way to go, Wrong Way Ray. Wouldn't have expected anything better from you. You banned free speech for the public, yet claim constitutional free speech privilege for yourself! So glad you've retreated back to where you came from.

Village Attorney Dan Bryant serves at the pleasure of the Mayor and Council. They are, in effect, his boss. If he wants to keep his job, it would appear he green-lights what they want, however cockamamie. Is he on an hourly rate? I doubt it. I believe most city attorneys are on set fee contracts. If there is anything sinister about Ruidoso government it might be that of an oligarchy rather than a representative system. The truth is that the Chamber members support the status quo, and it is they who drive the elections.

Well when this Lawler is asked to do something stupid ,He needs to have the guts to tell them "This will never fly". The other way is to know it would never fly than do it anyway, That would be corrupt in my view. No matter how you look at it it`s bad. They need someone better to give advice.

Bryant gets paid plenty of money. He is their gofer boy, As long as he gets paid he does not care what is asked of him. He could care less how wrong or stupid a subject is, if they say do it "HE WILL".

Just like he advised the city manager not to provide proof of education!
He is nothing more than a yes man,

The audacity of the man, no respect and total disregard of the residents.

If you are going to ask a loaded question from someone using her given name, you should also use your own given name.

I wonder if old Mayor Ray's "Mini Me" is still so proud of his father's ill-conceived, Constitution trashing-notions that have now been shi t-canned by a superior with real credentials and power.

That's not how Topix is constructed. A person can give a different user name each time they comment.
Maybe you could invent a discussion forum that requires a poster's real name...... like Facebook?

I remember when you announced that you were quitting the forum. I meant post or not post..... Free at last........ Free at last......
I'm glad you are posting again. I admire that you use the same user name each time.... unlike me. I'm a character who likes being other characters.
This whole thing about a ban on negative comments at meetings was and is BULLSH*T.

I don't use Facebook and I don't advise anyone else use it, either. Rather, I encourage people of courage to use their names and the power of an identifiable face to respectfully work to effect change in Ruidoso. Have you effected change being anonymous? If so, please share. I commend the lawyer who did just that to correct the wrong the oligarchs endorsed under the past, disastrous leadership of Mayor Raymond Gus Alborn.

I certainly may have effected change. Have you effected change by courageously using "Yvonne" ?.

Yep, that's my name. I have used it on letters, on petitions, I have shown up in person at Village Hall to argue my position, I have used my name to openly criticize former Mayor Ray Alborn, and I proudly used my name to contribute to the successful campaign of LC Commissioner Dallas Draper. I have used my name to call in the state water inspectors after Debi Lee succeeded in delivering us tainted water through our taps. I used my name to file a lawsuit against an unscrupulous Ruidoso businessman, and I won. I KNOW I have effected change in Ruidoso, but only because I dared identify myself in order to be taken seriously. You "may have effected change"? Oh, please!

Few take anything seriously on Topix, Wachter. Now you have become brave on Topix, what a feat.

Topix or not the story made Nat. News just like the story about the APS trying to muzzle a man at APS schools as he made critical remarks about the schools. When these things happen it`s taxpayer money that pays the bills. In Malibu at every city council meeting this surfer type dude gets up and talks about the trash on the beach and the parking problems and the waves or the weather. He never says anything that everyone does`nt all ready know. The people on the council just wait him out for 2 min..and move on . that`s how it`s done in a public meeting place.
