Compare the difference between the motorcycle crowd & the
Cowboy Symposium folks.

This weekend is the kind of event we need to have not the biker crowd. And yeah they are docs & lawyers & blah blah blah. There are fine folks on bikes, but there are also many more who are not.

Talk to the Police & local Judges if you think there is no difference.

I noticed a very dedicated group of out-of-towners came all the way to Ruiodoso on friday morning and put on quite a nice showy parade. It was authentic, there was a sharp looking flag detail, and flashy horses, and good old wagins, a real nice kick off to the Cowboy symposium. Why were we not notified there was to be such a parade, and why was it not advertised out? I'm quite embarrassed they put on that much pomp and energy for a few surprised mindow shoppers...what message does that leave?

I hate to say this, as but when people talk about Ruidoso gov, most of em say, "yeah well theyre a bunch of crackheads and whores". Your town doesn't have a grapple of a reputation. Such a shame that cities like Tularosa outmanage and outperform you. Maybe you should overthrow your current govie and start anew. I say no dems, all conservatives and no texans.

The "parade" on Friday was put on by the Bowen Ranch. They should've promoted it better if they wanted better turn out.

What a shame. I am not a bit interested in that sort of thing, however, most of the local-ites seem to be, and with respect to that and to any hardworking group that puts out that kind of effort, I believe that the blame for this kind of oversight belongs somewhere and should be addressed. Perhaps the Chamber of Commerce?

Upon speaking to many of the mounted persons in the parade, I believe the equipemnt was from them, but some of the riders came as far as California, and others are locals who were part of the "Salute to the American Cowboy". I don't know the specifics, but I agree with another responder, maybe the C of C should get more invloved, since there was a police escort, I ssumed it was Ruiodoso's event!

I may not have all the details correct, but I understand that the parade and subsequent beer tent setup on Saturday is a result of the Bowen group getting thrown out of the Chuckwagon competition years ago. This is, in a sense, competition to the symposium and was held at the convention center parking lot for several years. It seems, Deal Fowler is the organizer and solicited and obtained funds($5000)(every year since its inception) from the city to have the event. The benefactor of this event seems to be Quarters-with help from our tax dollars. The "Special Event" is the most special to the liq. license holder? Police escort?-Quarters seems to get a lot of those!!!!!!!!

Sounds like this toen is unfortunate...I was not trying to get into a pissing match, just making a constructive observation and, I didn't realize there was so much underlying animosity...Of course I would like a future event like that to be known in advance for the sake of bringing my children along, who would appreciate the wagons, stagecoach, outfits and horses. If it's all about alcohol, money, and who is who...Sad for the sake of the beauty and delight I had in veiwing it, and not many others could. Maybe , if the hatchet can get buried, this neat parade could become a "starter" for the Cowboy Symposium? My opinion, just an outsider looking in. Hope you have a nice day!

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Capricorn

You'll have a fabulous time if you're longing to see what's on offer in the sales, especially if you want to buy yourself some new clothes or cosmetics. However, you won't pay much attention to how much you're spending, and may even deliberately avoid thinking about it. Do yourself a favor and don't go overboard if you can't afford it.
