In spite of all that is wrong in your life, it is important to find reasons to live until you find all the reasons life is really worth living. Hang in there. God Bless us all.

All three of this kids were friends. I think it was a suicide pact. I pray for the families of these three teens during this very difficult time.

I am sorry but I read the comments to all of these daily and I have nvr once commented about any of the other comments, but lately Miss BarbMoore you have been on my last nerve you always seem to know everything. Deaths on or near a reservation is usually very quiet well kept and here you are saying "all three of this which should be these kids were friends" do you know that for a fact? Are you related to any of them? Please quit the I know it all all the time attitude. It is very sad. And I feel sorry for you. Please remember this is very tragic and all they need is prayers and no I think it was a suicide pact, families of these victims more likely will read it and I think that would be hard for me to read if the police have already said no its not. Just Keep on praying and keep your comments plain.

Yes, I do know that three of them were friends and I have read that there have been five suicides altogether. You see, I get my news from other sources rather then depending on the Alamo daily snooze. You will let me know how that crow tastes....right?

http://www.kob.com/article/stories/S1194846.s...

Since August, five teens have killed themselves in southeastern New Mexico, prompting school officials in Ruidoso to get together to talk about the problem.

People in the small community are stunned that five teens thought they had no way out.

School officials are trying everything they can to keep it from happening again.

Ruidoso Superintendent Dr. Bea Etta Harris said, "Just because something happens on Tuesday, doesn't mean it's over. There is a residual grief that goes on and on."

She says her district has been rocked by the news that five teens have killed themselves in the past few months.

"When we have one suicide, we know from statistics, suicides increase," Harris said, "And, in fact, we are the living example of that."

Two of the most recent suicides were students at Ruidoso High.

According to police, the girls— ages 14 and 16— knew each other. One was from the Mascalero Apache Reservation.

Dr. Harris said, "I don't want to use the word desperate, but the community: Mascalero, Ruidoso, Tularosa, Lincoln County are very concerned— that we address whatever needs to be addressed."

Parents at Ruidoso High are shocked about the news and are worried that their kids may not be able to talk about the deaths.

Parent Clinton Lee said, "The biggest part is the fear, you know— him being a teenage boy, a lot of the time they don't talk to you, and they don't want to talk to you."

A team that deals with suicide and prevention from the UNM Health Sciences Center will be on hand at Ruidoso schools to help students cope.

Ok..technically I don't know if the three were friends, I just know what I read. Yesterday's story on KOB about the incident only mentioned the three teens and that they were friends. Today's story said there have been 5 total since school started.

How tragic for all those involved. Continued prayers to their families and friends.

Are you kidding? A teen is more likely to kill themself than an adult. Their hormones are irratic and they are emotional. They are very sensitive to others. Peer pressure is horrible and a much worse existance than adults deal with. Plus teens are at the mercy of parents and family. If they have a bad one then that makes their very core unstable. No one knows what happens behind closed doors no matter how good the family seems to be. Kids overall are very mean to one another. A quiet, gentle, shy or passive teen is fodder for bullies. Family values are eroding and parents don't take care of kids the way they should. Teens think it's funny to see brutal fights. Cliques and bullies exist in schools not to mention gang wannabes. As far as the law goes, they really have little to no rights before 18. Parents need to get involved with their kids and quit assuming things are OK. Everyone has stress at every age. It's a human thing not an adult thing.

My condolences to the families. It's a terrible tragedy.

the school told the tv reporter that they were not close, not really even friends and that there was no pact.

I am so sorry for the families of those children. I have grandchildren that are teenagers. I don't know how I would handle it if one of them died in any way.
My heart goes out to all of those concerned.

I hope that this wave of suicide does not claim any more students. If I recall correctly, something similar happened in Plano, Texas more than a decade ago. For some reason, a large number of students were committing suicide. I'm not positive how they addressed the problem but I certainly do wish this to be over.

So many times, I heard that suicide is cowardly. I've never really understood that. Seeing as how I love my life, ending it would take every ounce of bravery I could muster. The reasoning for these suicides needs to come to the surface and I hope friends of these students can provide some insight into the cause.

I'm so glad to see the kind comments on this community for this issue. Last December it wasn't quite this way. There were some folks on here that were absolutely cruel and vicious and I, for one, am glad to see at least SOMEONE here has some compassion.

Thank you all for not being jerks and actually attempting to be understanding for these families. Though it would be nice were this not a selective reaction based on who the subject is, I'll take what I can get. I'm pleasantly surprised. Didn't think ya'll had it in you.

Such tragedy, my prayers are with the families of these teenagers. We as adults need to give our youth more to live for and less to die for. I think we need prayer back in our schools and the drugs are destorying our children. Please, if there are any children reading this and you feel your life isn't worth while, please seek help from someone. All of us adults need to keep our negative comments to ourselves we do not know how many children read this topix and this negative crap is uncalled for.
