I have heard it said that Planet Hoagie is a part of an ongoing franchise scheme that began with Petrucci's Ice Cream in the 90's and includes Petrucci's Water Ice, Horn and Hardart, Amazon Cafe, and Java's Brewin' in NJ and PA...they have sold millions of dollars in franchise licenses for companies that only existed to make a quick buck, not function as an ongoing business. I caution anyone who is interested in these schemes to do their homework. Always ask the person selling you the franchise how much they have invested in the business and ask to speak to FORMER franchisees!

I have heard rumors that Planet Hoagie is part of an ongoing franchise scheme that began in the 1990's with Petrucci's Ice Cream and continud with Petrucci's Water Ice, Horn and Hardart, Aazon Cafe, Plant Hoagie, and Java's Brewin' in NJ and PA. I would caution anyone who is considering buying these franchises to research the principals carefully. Always ask the person selling the franchise how much of their own money they have invested and is at risk and always ask to speak to FORMER franchisees!

The Ace's steaks are good. Anychance you know of a great Italian hoagie near Phoenixville? How about a great FRESH pizza? What we have is not worth eating..........VF Pizza is pretty good, but we live near PHILADELPHIA! They ought to be much better!

People can make up the craziest stories...The owner of Aces was in charge of paying the rent for us (Pudges) in Trappe but decided not to and caused the lease to be terminated. Then he signed the lease after we (Pudges) paid for everything and were ready to open...The lawsuit is coming to an end so Pudge's supporters will get an "honest" cheesesteak in Trappe soon...

You should get your facts straight...Pudge's in Blue Bell has all rights to the name...That is why Blue Bell is run under the National Corp. name of Pudges inc..

Some people need to get the stories straight. A lawsuit on Ace's? HAHA!!! Maybe the owner of Pudges should pay the bills in Blue bell and not worry about what is going on with a company that is in no way affiliated with them!

I knew the truth would come out:) Anyway, Aces, Rays and Pudges are almost exactly the same. Well let me change that. Pudges used to awesome but they suck now. I would not eat there if they were giving away stuff! I have heard all kinds of rumors about that place. Rays and Aces uses the same meat, cheese and rolls. The only difference id the person making the sandwhich. And since the cook at Aces has worked at all 3 of these resturaunts, I would say you are getting a delicious meal!!

I bought the franchise in 2005, and did'nt do my homework. I caution every one do not buy this franchise, out of over 100 sold, only 16 are opened.

No one should buy a Franchise until it is nationally recognized. The Jew and The Greek will end up with all your money and laugh in your face. Ever heard the term 2 faced? Believe me, what comes around goes around.

Well this is the story, I use to own Pudges 2 in Jeffersonville. After Pudge died in 2002, his daughter took over the Blue Bell store and her brother who owned the Jeffersonville (sold the store to me). He owned the copyright to the name. There is a family dispute being that Pudge and his sister Nana,(the one the sandwich is named after) started the restaurant near LaSalle (hence the Explorer Burger named after the LaSalle Explorers and Ray has the Knight Burger named after the North Penn Knights. When she died, the children remained on and were getting her share of the cut. That all changed not long after Pudge passed. I am sure there are more issues. I know that in the past 10 years there has been a Rays that opened near Pudges in East Norriton and not suire if they are there anymore, this was Ray from Lansdale's son. I got out of the restaurnat business in 2002, and was back recently. Frank, Pudge's son bought the rights to the name and wants royalties for using the name. I am sure there are other issues, but I have been out of the loop for a long time.
By far Pudge's has the best hoagies and steak ever, good enough to make Dick's Clarks menu at the Bandstand in KoP (is that still there?). I live in Tennessee now and I can tell you that in the world of imitators there is none ever duplicated outside the tri-state area. Good Luck to Ace's (I wonder if this is Lucille and her family?) or Ray's family? Good luck to them. To all the crew back at Pudges and Pudge's 2. Best wishes.

The closed Ace's now has a big sign in the window saying that Fat Daddy's Deli Coming Soon.(I think that was the name.)

We really liked Ace's. Too bad they couldn't hold on in that ill fated Trappe shopping center until the economy improves.

Regarding Planet Hoagie? I was a former planet hoagie owner, the one that got f--ed out of the 12th & walnut location...i know who the jew is, but who is the greek? It truly is a shame, the product was fantastic, and we were selling hoagies like hot cakes, but the people we bought the store from were crooks(they were also part of the franchising team, coincidence...i guess not). started noticing some falsehoods, and when we started questioning them about some things, they locked me out of my store (by having the locks changed in the middle of the night, when i frantically called the landlord to find out what happened, i was notified that they never even put my name on the the lease, just had me listed as a manager of THEIR store). I was young and naive, the price was right, and i got screwed. Still own rights to the name and menu, thinking about opening up again....Ironically enough, years after we got shut down i received a call from woman claiming to be the mother of the jew, stating she was filing a law suit against her son because he cheated her out of her family business, by franchising it, making her a manager and then firing her. I truly do hope what goes around comes back around and crushes him. What an unbelievably terrible person.
