Does anyone have any info on the Pudges steak place opening up in the shopping center w/ Superfresh (formerly Clemens), Bravo Pizza, and the Petco? There was a sign on the front of the store saying "Coming Fall 2006". Needless to say, Fall '06 has come and went.

Also, the planet hoagie website has had Collegeville on the list of upcoming openings for about a year now. Does anyone know if that fell through?

New place just opened yesterday. Going to check it out tonight. It's called Ace's steak & Hoagie, or something like that.

Since: May 07

Yep, it's called Ace's. Very good food and nice peopole. A bit pricey once you add the extras to the sandwich (cheese etc..) and fries. And believe it or not they are NOT OPEN on Sundays! Crazy!

What was to be another Pudges in Trappe Shopping Center is now ACE's. The Pudges Trademark name could not be used. I've been told that relatives of the original Pudge's wanted to use the name but were told not to or else risk being sued for copyright infringement. Looking forward to trying out a sandwich in Trappe that will no doubt be the best in the area!

It is the same family who owns Pudges. It was a family fight, however most of the people in the Trappe store are from Pudges. It is very good, and a little costly. Great to have in the area.

All of the Planet Hoagie shops are either folding or in bad shape. There is no corporate direction, website, consistency, or quality control in the product. Each location could do whatever they wanted - different menus, bread bakers, etc. Get a good sandwich elsewhere.

very good food, agreed.Prices are not bad at all for the amount of steak in one sandwich, could not even finish the sandwich(large)! wings are very good and was told there was going to be 2 new kinds added, can not what for that to happen!

Ace's is great new addition to the Collegeville/Trappe area! The food is awesome and the prices are good considering the sandwiches are overflowing with meat. I have eaten there every week since it has opened and I have no complaints at all. The staff is very friendly, and yes some of them are from Pudge's. But this is not owned by any family member of Pudge's. Ace's is way better than Pudge's! Everyone should tell all their family and friends eat at Ace's!

Gotta tell you - the people that say Ray's in Lansdale is great? I can Attest that they are, by far, the best cheesesteak I have ever had. I in in Collegeville and Lansdale is far for a cheesesteak. But I will put them up against all the players in Philly and Ray's will win hands down.

So what is it w/ Pudge? Family fight or not? Copyright infringement or not? Did they not pay the rent before opening or what?

Being a Pudge's lover, I tried aces and I was very impressed. I work near Lansdale, have had many Ray's Steaks and here is my rankings of these three shops: 1.Pudges 2.Aces 3.Rays ... This coming from a guy who finishes larges all by himself. One time I weighed the Pudges large before I ate it. 1.4 lbs!!! The last 1/4 of the sandwich was painful.

I tried the Ace's cheesesteak, and i have to say that i wasn't impressed. It's not all about how much meat is on there. The whiz tasted like an imitation cheddar. Good for the area, but doesn't hold up next to Philly steaks, in particular Steve's Prince of Steaks.

Anyone know of any good burrito places near by?

Tortuga's in C-ville is probably the best local Mexican place. No CC's, just cash or debit. BYOB.

I thought Tortuga's was disgusting. I would rather get frozen Mexican entrees from the local market than eat so called Mexican from Tortuga's.

Not sure what you had but I've had plenty of great meals there for the last 4 years. It doesn't transport home so well tho. The Biztek is good, the guac nachos are awesome, the salsa is the best around (and spicy!), and the beef chimi's are fantastic.
