The site was originally Rhone-Poulenc Rohrer (opened 1991?) and Aventis bought them out (1999?). Aventis closed the site (2000) and then Wyeth moved into the site in 2001 and the site has doubled in size in the meantime.
SmithKline Beecham or GSK never operated on this site. In 1994 SB moved into the site across the highway originally opened by Sterling drug (Kodak subsidiary) after Kodak thought they would concentrate on the film business (what a horrible decision). In 2000 SB merged with Glaxo to become GlaxoSmith Kline which still operates that site today. |

There was an official announcement a few days ago (covered in the Wall Street Journal) about Pfizer closing 6 research sites. It was mentioned that some work is being transferred from Collegeville, but the site was not one of the six being closed.

Although Collegeville is not expected to close for now, a large number of staff have find out they will not have jobs. One rumor is that all of the labs, many of which were already empty because of "Project Impact," are supposed to be closed by March 2010. This site has a lot of information about Collegeville.
