OK - I am totally fed up with the people who take their dogs to Central Perkiomen Valley Park and don't have them on a leash.

The park IS NOT your back yard or private property. There are signs posted every quarter mile or less, stating that pets must be leashed. What makes these pet owners exempt from the posted regulations?

Leash laws are not punishment. They are there to PROTECT your pet as well as other park patrons, cyclists, joggers, and the pet owner from expensive lawsuits.

I run at that park 6 days a week and see about 50% of the pets without leashes on. Not all these dogs appear well trained, either. Even if your dog is PERFECTLY trained, who is to say that you will come around the bend in the trail and meet up with another thoughtless pet owner whose dog is not so well trained and also unleashed. Think - you can afford the $2300 for your "Labradoodle" - how about investing 20 bucks in a leash and avoid potential headache and heartache.

I have two dogs, myself, and without the benefit of an enclosed yard at home, they are ALWAYS on a leash when taken outside in the neighborhood or to the park. I love dogs - animals of all kinds, it's the thoughtless and selfish owners who think they are entitled to allow their dog to roam free while on public property that really pisses me off.
