After being visited by the Liquor Control Board, the Perky has reported agreed to discontinue live bands. They have also reportedly added signs in front asking patrons to be quiet after 11pm.

Well, there ya have it. All these old farts bitchin & moanin finally rained on the parade & took everyone's fun away. You guys are just like cops who arrest their own Grandmas on Christmas day. I mean really? REALLY?!?!?!? Hopefully the reason you lose sleep from now on is because of the guilt you feel way down deep inside of your cold, black hearts. Fuddy duddies indeed.

The Perky getting in line is the best news ever. It's rare to see common sense prevail these days, but here it is. Bravo!

Yeah, I'm not surprised to hear comments like this!! Selfish people always think that the world revolves around them and they deserve to have "a good time" no matter how many other people they step on. Anyone who doesn't like it, they are 'sticks in the mud" & so forth. Yeah, that 'party pooper' thing is played out.
I am not talking about an occasional "party" but about EVERY weekend and about neighbors who have to get up at 5:30 the next morning & go to work.
. Sorry you feel that way, however their are some of us that go to The Perky that don't act like idiots to the neighborhood. I for one enjoy living here, and also enjoy going to the Perky. Most of what you are referring to are loud hockey people that don't live in Oaks, so they don't care. As for the bands, it was a good place to see local music. Sorry you feel that way, however, the bar has been there for a long time. Also the new owner has gone to some great lengths to squelch issues while providing a cool place to hang that is NOT some chain bar with no ties to this village other that to soak it for$$$. Go ahead and visit the other pubs close by. Sure they provide jobs&such. But I challenge you to look closely at where the food and stock is coming from. The Perky is truly a local establishment, with a local owner, returning revenue locally. You may have your opinion, I cannot, nor will not keep you from that, but Oaks is vanishing! The Perky IS an Oaks establishment. Stop by, give it a second chance, it won't take you to long to figure out who I am.

I've been to this establishment. I must say that sooner it is gone, the better for the neighborhood. It is frequented by a host of unsavory characters, most notably members of the nefarious Pagan Biker Gang. This is not an establishment we want in a decent community.

Oaks Guy,

are you one of the people I 've asked not to come into my bar? Clearly you haven't been here lately at all. Let's keep it that way. You don't sound like much fun. And might I say sir kind've cowardice to bash me and my bar when you hide behind a mysterious pen name. We have lots of nice people come in here. Hard working people, I guess that's just so unsavory isn't it? Dirt and grease, mechanics, landscapers, carpenters, Plumbers, and oh all the retired folks that come out because I work hard to keep them happy. What else do you have bad to say about me?

Josh, no, you and I have never spoken, so you've never told me anything actually. During the times I've been to your establishment, I've noted that members of the Pagan Gang WERE there. To offer these unsavory characters a watering hole within our community is a serious breach of trust within the village. You are opening the floodgates to anyone who will pay for your alcohol, regardless of the threat they represent. And when these criminals stumble out of your bar, intoxicated and perhaps angry at the way the world views them, who do you think they will take out their anger on first? The residents of Oaks.

Yes sir I am! Anyone who has not caused me a problem is welcome. They never caused anybody any harm when they were there. They were perfectly friendly and social with everyone. Do you feel threatened? Would you like me to protect you? I say again you clearly have not been in my place in almost three years. And please stay at home and hide behind your pseudonym on your laptop where you feel safe.
Everywhere you go in life you are surrounded by people you don't know. You don't anything about them . Just as dangerous, yet you find false comfort that you are safe, walking down the street, driving down the street, out to watch a movie. Just stay home. Leave the fun to people that want take the risk to live life!

What you call "Risk to Live Life" I call harboring a dangerous element within the community. I would choose to avoid these people whenever possible simply because that's the smart thing to do, not the cowardly thing. Do you think it's "fun" to have criminals only yards from where decent, hard working families reside? Am I killing your buzz by asking you to be just a little more cautious with who you welcome with open arms into your den? I suppose as long as they are getting all tanked and putting money into your pockets, you sleep fine. Next week let's get members of the North American Man Boy Love Association in that place! They love kids I heard!

Why thank you for the gracious invite. Unfortunately, I must decline, as I find terrible music, bad company, and dangerous elements somewhat of a hindrance to any social atmosphere.

we quit doing music three years ago as I said the that was obviously the last time you were in.
Please stop voicing an opinion on something you clearly have based on old information. We are none of those things. Form a current informed opinion if you choose to speak out about something and bad mouth me and my business. BE VALID. You have not been here in three years. nothing is the same. If you were in and around Oaks you would probably know that without coming in because people talk about all the good things here. THREE YEARS AGO your opinion was valid. It is no longer.

First off, it's not me badmouthing your business; it's the community as a whole, as this forum clearly demonstrates. I would have thought you would have realized that by now. Second, you clearly dodged the issue of whether or not Pagan Gang members frequent your establishment. You muttered something about "Anyone who doesn't cause me a problem is welcome." Well just because the Pagans don't cause you a problem doesn't mean they are welcome in this community. The bottom line is if there were no place for this allegedly criminal organization to gather in Oaks, they would not be here. Your establishment has attracted them here.
For those of you who don't know anything about the Pagans and their nefarious ways, here is

You are very entertaining! You are clearly misinformed, with a single experience three years ago.
I did not mutter, I cheerfully stated,
Yes anyone is welcome here who has not caused problems as I said before.

I have not seen anyone affiliated with any Motorcycle clubs here in over three years, from anywhere. If you had an opinion based on current information we wouldn't be having this delightful discussion. I will also state that they were very nice and polite to me and my staff when they did come in over three years ago.

Why does your profile say Bristol?

Why do you keep using the word nefarious? I don't think it means what you think it means.

And I don't mean to scare you, but they are around regardless of where you may have seen them, here or where ever. Better for you to just hide under your covers!

I do not live in oaks nor do I come here enough to be familiar with this issue and I feel for you that are burdened with this. All I can say in the perky's defense is that they have the BEST wings I've ever had. If they got shut down that would be terrible. May I suggest trying their wings sometime? Get them to go if you'd prefer that! They're a great price too!

I just saying... It might shed somewhat of a light on the situation.

Cheers to you Sweden! If you are interested in giving your contact information to me through the website www.the perky.com I will mail you a gift card for the compliments! I have tried humor with OaksGuy ( who I don't think lives in Oaks), I have tried an offer to invite him in and let him see with his own eyes the work I've done to make it a cool, friendly place, even made fun of him to point out how silly he is. The Perky is not the same place it was three years ago. But the wing recipes I all created myself with lots of effort. Thank you.

Judging from the pictures looks like a pretty nice laid back bar/restaurant. Considering noise is no longer an issue, can't see why anyone would be against the place. Never knew it existed before this entertaining thread. Menu looks pretty good too. Will have to stop in sometime.

Josh - one question: What kind of wings do you have? The little wing ding types or regular big chicken wings. I prefer the little guys, fried hard.

They're on the big side, but we can can fry 'em hard no problem, just say extra crispy when you order with the bartender. Thanks!
