It is Rite Aid. Sheetz won't be coming into the Philly 5 county region because of Sunoco and Wawa. The Boro wouldn't have approved a Sheetz anyway. It is Rite Aid and has been a Rite Aid from the beginning. The Boro Tax collector was telling people even before the property was sold that Rite Aid was coming. The lot across the street was going to be a Starbucks before the economy went into the tank.

Any bets on precisely how long it will take before this drug store will be abandoned just like so many of their other locations? The site management team fails on a regular basis. How do they keep their own jobs????

It's a Rite Aid.....

I wish they posted meeting minutes and agendas online... I think the borough is busy enough as it is...

Apparently Rite Aid is looking to close at least 2 other stores to open this one... rumor is spring city and the one just on the other side of 422 next to Ritas. But yea, lets hope this thing last for more then a year, but my guess is it will as they seem to abandon properties they lease, and they will own this one.

Sheetz... I wish! Give wawa a run for their money gas price wise, but it won't happen!

They closed the Limerick location on the corner of Lewis Road because they didn't own the location. They rather own their own buildings than rent. I talked to the store manager in SC and they are staying open because they have people from SC that use their store. They also said that the one next to Genaurdi's will stay open as well because of the people they currently deal with in that area. The location at Township line and Ridge is always busy and they just said the other day on CNBC that Rite Aid is going in the right direction. I agree about boro minutes on the web but I rather see them make other improvements in town before they worry about posting to the the web. If you look SF, Upper Providence, and Limerick are very slow getting stuff up on the web now. The Limerick/Royersford-Spring-Cit y Patch always has boro, district, and township meeting info on their site the next day. The Mercury is usually a few days behind them.

the rite aid in spring city and the one in the limerick square shopping center will both be closed and merge into the lewis and main street location. rite aid primarily leases their stores as it would not be feasible to own and be completely responsible for the property. i would have much rather seen a sheetz market to give wawa and sunoco some competion instead of just another pharmacy chain

Right Aid has their official "Coming Soon" signs up on the site now. The lot across from them (part of the old Chevy dealer that is the lot next to Domino's, etc.) is now owned by someone other than Rite Aid. That person/group bought the land with the condition that another pharmacy could not be placed upon the property. They immediately put it up for sale. So there is still a chance that something else could be put there in the future.

The old Cumberland Farm/Country Farms property is still vacant on the opposite corner. I wound if someone will buy it and just get rid of the gas pumps altogether.

Getting rid of the pumps now requires removal of the tanks by law... that would be a very expensive undertaking for such a small property.

They will unfortunately sit there until they leak, then it will become a Superfund removal project....

I don't know where you people get your info but Rite Aid was the original buyer of the old Chevy of Limerick lot. They are keeping the Spring-City store seeing that they are the only drug store walking residents in SC. They may keep the one in the Limerick Shopping Center because of all the people in that area. The Country Farms store closed because the guy that ran it is in jail for drugs and attempting to burning his house on Walnut Street down. That station needs to have the tanks removed anyway because they have been leaking for years.

Jeepers. No need to get a twist on.:)

Employees of the Rite Aid stores involved (SC & Rofo) have said their stores will be closing and consolidating into the new location. If this is incorrect information, then it is their own employees who are spreading it.

Yes, Rite Ais bought the full plot from the Chevy dealer plus the 3 house lots, but since then Rite Aid has sold the plot of land (a part of the old dealership) across from their build site on the other side of Lewis Road next to Dominos, etc. as they did not want it. The entity that bought that plot from Rite Aid still has it for sale. Although it's a conditional sale, meaning the condition that Rite Aid put on it is still in place, that it could not be used for another pharmacy to be put/built there. Heard that from the land brokers themselves.

Did not know why the CF property was shut down. Only made the comment that I hoped someone buys it/takes it over and yanks out the pumps and puts something useful there.

Don't want to be "that guy" but I'm gonna be.

Either you didn't speak with the land brokers themselves, or you spoke with someone who misrepresented himself. There's currently a "Rite Aid coming soon" sign on the lot. So the land was NOT sold and there is, indeed, going to be a pharmacy on it.

In fact there are 2 big signs on it and several articles in the local papers about Rite Aid being built there. Rite Aid did not sell the land seeing they like to own their own stores. If anything the Limerick Shopping Center store will close and not the Spring-City Store. The SC store is the only one with walking distance for most of the resident in SC. I know the people who owned the land that the dealership and 3 houses were on and they were the original owners of the dealership and they told me straight up that they sold it one guy who wanted to lease it to Rite Aid and Rite Aid said no. So he put it up for sale and Rite Aid bought it. That all happened in a span of a few months. I know several people who work for Rite Aid at different locations who also said that Rite Aid probably won't close those locations because of the number of people the area right around those locations. As for the lot across the street they will have trouble selling for what they want for it considering all the road work that will be needed to be done for business. I heard from people at the Catholic church that they were offered the land at the asking price for a parking lot and even the church said no when the current owner of the lot said that he wasn't backing down on the price. The price paid for that lot alone was what that lot and the corner of Lewis and Walnut and Main went for originally.

Rite Aid bought the entire dealership lots and houses from the seller that tried to lease it to them. Then Rite Aid sold the lot across the street, not the lot that they are building on. The one on the corner of Main & Lewis adjacent to Dominos. The one that they are building on is the one between Main & Walnut bordered by Lewis. The lot that Rite Aid sold was a part of the original dealership that they used to park cars on and you have to cross over Lewis to get to it. It's on the same side of Lewis that Country Farms and Dominos.

Rite Aid did sell that plot of land with the condition that no other pharmacy could be built there as they do not want the competition. The person/entity that bought that plot of land put it right back up for sale. But the condition that it can not be sold for another pharmacy still applies. I am not denying that Rite Aid is being built there, just that they sold the other plot of land. Clear as mud?

I know a lot of people are hoping that the Spring City location stays open. I was just relaying what the store employees said about them closing the stores. Whether or not they have the facts is to be seen.
